Frat this was a great podcast, after listening to the SWAC Commissioner I totally understand the exception that you may have taken to the Braves schedule. Had we started with those basic facts we may have been on the same page and not ASU vs GSU 👌🏿

Good Interview. "Without vision the people will perish." There is no "challenge" that can't be handled due to the Mississippi River. The SUPD is well versed on handling the traffic flow in and out of S.U. campus.
 
Hi @Kenn Rashad have you ever had the chance to interview previous SWAC commissioners and if so how you compare their genuine desire to improve the conference.
 
@Kenn Rashad As you know, I'm a big fan of your podcast (professionally done & great questions). I couldn't wait to listen.

This was really good. The only thing I want to say is that I don't feel it's ever a good idea to move the SWAC Championship game away from the #1 team.

1) It makes the stakes that much more interesting
2) The fans of the most likely team to go to the Celebration Bowl are more likely to go because they won't have to spend money going to Birmingham (hotel, gas, food, etc)
3) Birmingham is a low-energy city if it ain't the MCC. Outside of that, it doesn't make for a good backdrop of the SWAC Championship game. Also there isn't much to do before or after the game in Birmingham nor does Birmingham have a good airport ... if it leaves it needs to be in Houston, DFW or NOLA.
4) If the visiting team fans don't travel, you can at least count on the attendance of the home team and locals. There is no SWAC school located within an hour of Birmingham.
5) Most other conferences are keeping the championship game at the #1 team's stadium ... clearly it's a good idea. Follow the crowd with this.

Well, in a sense, the commissioner said that same thing. However, he is willing to move if the interested party is willing to make it worth the SWAC's time to move.
 
Hey @Kenn Rashad...that was a great podcast! That is my 1st time actually taking the time to really listen to the commish!
He no doubt has what is best for the SWAC, as his priority! Keep up the great work sirs.

Right but he's considering moving it if the "right deal" comes along ... I don't think there's no better deal than how we have it now for multiple reasons (some I already mentioned).
 
Frat at some point if these will be hosted by the higher seed tea,m do we need a minimum stadium capacity? Can you simply determine the highest rated team by won/Loss record? What if two teams go undefeated and did not play each other?
 
This breath of information from the podcast shows the differentiating quality of this site. Props to Kenn!

McClelland is a natural and I am hopeful of the SWAC soaring to new heights under his leadership. He seems to have an irrepressible attitude to fight tooth and nail to maximize SWAC interests.

Well, McClelland didn't specifically specify a stadium capacity, but he did state that if Valley was in a position to host the game, the conference would have the option to suggest they move the game to a larger venue.

As for two teams going undefeated and having to play in the SCG, I'm not exactly sure what the tiebreaker would be. My guess is that the conference might look at OOC records.

I would be all for Valley getting to host at home if they earned the best record in the conference. To the victor goes the spoils.

I get your point but it would cost Valley more to host than the profit they'd make or no one could afford the tickets.
 
Valley could always bring in temporary bleachers. It would require a lot of them but like jag4life said I would be for it. It would be one of the biggest events ever held in their stadium.

They have to meet conference specs to host conference championship. This is technically not a home game. It is a championship hosted by them. If all the money they have to put out cannot be recouped because they cannot sale enough tickets they lose money.
 
Commish is basically telling y’all it’s going to be at the new stadium in downtown Birmingham as soon as it opens in 2021.
 
This is what I gathered from the podcast

1. Charles McCleland is very informative. I have learned more from this podcast than I have ever gathered from Duer Sharp.
2. Didn't know we lost money with the SCG being in Houston. I thought we would have made money. Where was the money going?
3, It seems like the commissioner has the SWAC best interest at heart. Instead of just being a yes man who just said that I work the for the SWAC presidents.
4. He talked about schedules that Kenn Rashad brought up. I didn't have a problem with the issue because I didn’t like the schedule at all. No problem with fort valley but auburn and Virginia Lynchburg is going to be ugly. The average person is not going to fill up their car and take their family to see Alcorn play a team that I didn’t even know existed until 2013 unless they are a diehard or a season ticket holder.
5. I believe with him at the helm the SWAC will surpass half of the conferences in fcs

What do you mean where was it going... we were playing in a top notch NFL stadium... that wasnt cheap!
