Phone apps: Anybody on here able to create them?

I do. PM me and tell me what you are looking for.

Those of you who are familiar with APPS I saw on CNBC where, if you create an APP and others
use it, you can make as much as .70-.80 cents on each dollar every time it's used. Is it true or
have yall heard of it being done. It was a black electronic specialist on there encouraging more
Afro-Americans to create their own APPS. It could be lucrative according to him.

It’s possible, but a lot depends on the platform such as iOS, Android, or Windows. And of course, the idea you have for what kind of app you want to write. I once read about a 13 year old who made 6 figures writing an iPhone app. I want to learn how to create apps for iOS, however you need a Mac computer to run the latest version of xcode. I don’t have a Mac right now. I’m waiting to get one this fall.

You can install OSX into a virtual machine on Windows and then run xcode in that.

O.K., I will say you need OS X. I have not written an app in my life, so I can only go by what I have read. From my readings, there are a lot of problems with this method if it works at all. I read were OS X 10.6.6 and above may not boot up or function properly depending on your computer in a virtual machine environment. If it does, xcode 4.3 will not work. I am interested in writing for iOS 4.0 and above mainly for the iPad. Furthermore, this is still considered to be a hack which makes it illegal. I don’t want to write apps for jailbreak devices only. However, if I am wrong, it’s easier to buy a Mac. I am not in love with Windows to go that far, and I need another computer anyway. Can somebody show me an app in the App store in which this method was used? Macs are expensive and if I can save a few bucks it will be a big help.

Dude, not to be rude, installing OSX in a virtual machine is not illegal. You can go to the apple store, buy the OSX disc, and install it on anything you want, if you can actually get it to install. It's not against the law, the same way jailbreaking and iphone isn't against the law. Both are perfectly legal. Also, xcode works perfectly fine in a virtual machine. If you actually believe half the stuff in your post, then you have a lot to learn before you start writing iOS apps. Depending on your level of experience, it may be easier to just buy a Mac, but it's also a hell of a lot more expensive as well.

He was mostly speaking of Iphone APPS.

My job calls for me to do a lot of research about medical fields that I cannot pronounce and equipment I have no clue what its use for, to determine if money can be used to buy certain items according to an agreement. So a lot of times I have to go with what is generally accepted by the majority not one person saying, “It is, because I say it isâ€. If that item cannot be purchase within the confines of an agreement, I say it is illegal. When I say “illegal†I am metaphorically speaking. In Apple’s End User License Agreement (EULA) have you agree to a contract before running the software for the first time. That contract states that it can only be installed on Macintosh computers. To do anything else is a breach of contract. I know breaking this contract is different from breaking a criminal law. However, if damage occurs to hardware, there is no legal recourse to recoup a monetary loss, so but by no means is breaking this contract a trivial thing...... That is why I don’t like to jailbreak iOS devices. As for xcode running in virtual machine, if you don’t know and 20 people say you can’t and three people say that you can, who you are going to believe. The only way I believe the three people who say you can if one of them produces an app that was created in virtual machine and was put in the App Store. I never said I knew everything about technology. Furthermore, I never said that I knew how to write an iOS app. But the most important of all, I never said I was going to start writing iOS apps tomorrow. I said I wanted to learn, regardless if it takes me 10 days or 10 years I don’t care. It is just a hobby for me….Also not trying to be rude.

I think you might find this an interesting read. It’s an old article and a lot has change, but I think you will get the point.

HOW TO WRITE AN IPHONE APP IN 14 DAYS

Christmas 2008 - For the first time in several years I was going to be off from work for two straight weeks and my family had no plans go anywhere. Two weeks just hanging around the house. What was I going to do with myself?
I suppose I could have tackled some long neglected household repair, or I could have just kicked back and overdosed on Christmas movies and bowl games like I usually do this time of year. But instead, after lounging around for a day or so, a light bulb went off over my head. An iPhone application! I was going to try my hand at developing an iPhone application.
I've been an Apple user for several years, but I had absolutely no experience*developing*applications under OS X. I had never written a line of Objective C, I'd never used Apple's XCode Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and I'd never written a line of OpenGL. And did I mention that I didn't own an iPhone? Sound like a recipe for success?
