I know several former and current coaches from Richardson staff and they all tell me basically the same thing about Pete Richardson...he's a stern taskmaster. Pete is very demanding of his coaches and works the hell out of them. However, they all agree that Pete works hard for them and does what he can to help them become better coaches.
One thing that they expressed pleasure about was that Pete doesn't turn on a coach based on public opinion. However, if he doesn't think a particular coach is up to his standard...he will let them go. But most of the coaches I talked with felt that Pete taught them a lot. Even in a conversation with Johnny Cole (shortly after Pete fired him for insubordination), Cole felt that Pete was a good coach in terms of teaching his coaches and knowledge of the game.
The only grumblings I have received concerned some displeasure that Pete didn't go to bat hard enuff for coach's pay raises etc, tickets for spouses, and other minor stuff. Actually a lot of that might be out of Pete's hands...
