Pay Tithes or Get Shot- Creflo Dollar

Is wasn't that he was preaching about home ownership, it is the fact that he pushed his congregation into predatory loans. Everyone can't buy a home. I would love for it to be true but at a certain income level, it aint feasible. Now, he got congregation full of people with Adjustable Rate Mortages (ARMS) that are skyrocketing. He basically helped the bank take advantage of his congregation.:shame:

Now this is when you need to think for yourself.....if you couldn't afford it back then.....it's still not affordable now if your financial situation is the same.

Some of what he says is true but he has twisted it a great deal to the point that someone who does not know the true Word will be turned off immediately.

Thats how I feel.

now about shooting people, I took it as how not paying tithes is associating with robbing God of what is already His, and how people will or are ready to shoot you if you come into their homes and rob from them....however, everybody is not gonna take it that way and you can't just put it out there like that with a personal, sensitive issue such as tithing. Like you said, there is some truth, but he positioned it horribly in a way that will have non believers turned off and running away.

Did he tell folks to get ARMs or did he just suggest they should to own homes?

At some point folks need to take responsibility for their own actions. The banks have to be upfront but folks have to read the fine print on what they are signing.

Exactly!

He just preached about home ownership and told people that he brought some friends from the bank that would help them get into a home today.

Now, I ultimately hold folks responsible for their own actions but some people trust their pastor blindly. As a pastor, I feel you have a certain responsibility to your congregation. He should have really talked to them about financing a home before bringing in bankers. He brought in bankers to talk to a group of people, totally uneducated on a process. That is pimpery, plain and simple.

Believers as well. Pastors run the risk of suggesting that salvation can be bought and thats far from what the word says. Anytime a preacher starts going off on these tithes rants, I'm turned off.

Not really. But OK. That's people (the congregation) making poor decisions.

No it's not. Regardless of who tells you to buy the house. YOU need to be responsible for what you sign your name too. That is not the church or the pastor's fault.

Also Dollar is on some BS. In high school my boyfriends mother attended the church and her husband would kick her ass everyday day and twice on Sunday but the church told her to stay with him because it was the biblical thing to do.

Then a couple of years after that my sister asked for help from the church because she had lost her job and they told her they only helped tithers.

My church will tell you, you don't need to be a member to participate in any ministries.

I said unbelievers speaking in references to the principles of God, not the church or pastor because as a believer no man should have the power to turn you off of God's principles, because you should know them for yourself. However, as SLT pointed out, all believers aren't on the same level of spiritual maturity so I agree with her in that perspective. But again, I was speaking on being turned off of the principle of tithing, not the man or church.

Is someone on here a psycologist or majored in it. Because there's a term for what Dollar is doing in that clip. I can't remember the name of it, but what he is doing is subconsciously making a threat to the audience. He is actually saying the phrase "I would shoot non-tithers" ,but he is saying it in a way where he doesn't have to take responsibility for making the actual threat.

That technique is used all the time by dictators and pimps. He is actually scaring the people into tithing.

Peace and Practice

I don't see how that could scare them into tithing...I would think members would just start leaving his church.

You mean pimps actually use a psychological technique other than the backhand.....:uhoh:

Of course. That's where most pulpit hustlas get their strategy from.

A pimp's entire purpose isn't getting the woman to fear his hand, but to fear dissapointing him.

Creflo is doing the same thing, he is making these people fear dissapointing him instead of worrying about pleasing God.

Pimps' entire huslte is to make the woman believe that her work and selling her body is going to lead to a better life and happiness for both of them. If she fails to bring money, he punishes her through either violence or by making her feel low with verbal abuse.

Dollar is doing the exact same thing. He isn't physically doing anything, but he is saying that his dissapointment is so great that he wishes he could shoot them. This is meant to make the congregation feel guilt or fear, wither one is good for him because it gets him money.

Peace and Practice

...and thats the problem.

Man I know yall gotta be smarter than this. How can yall sit here and judge this man based off of edited clips from a interview, sermons, etc.? Unless you heard the sermon/interview in its entirety and understood the complete message that was given, you can't make judgement. Yea, it sounds f'd up (shoot non tithers), but what he say before that?after? What was the sermon/interview about?

C'mon now.
