Paula Deen accused of calling Obama N-word


I like going to Savannah and the Sea Islands but will not be going to her restaurant. I have been there once but decided not to go back because I need to lose weight.

It's a nice little drive from Albany to Savannah. It is not like driving from Atlanta to Marietta.

I went to her restaurant at Harrah's Casino in Tunica, food was NASTY and cold!!! How buffet food gonna be cold?! Everyone at my table was disappointed with the food.
 



Being born and raised in the south, I know better and understand that the only soul food places I would ever eat at are the ones ran by Big Momma and unfortunately not a lot of those places are left around.
 
She was suppose to be on the Today Show this morning and cancelled, saying she was exhausted.

Food Network has issued a statement saying it will not renew the contract for Paula Deen, who has been embroiled in controversy over the last several days after she admitted to using racial slurs in the past and failed to show up for a scheduled interview on TODAY Friday.

“Food Network will not renew Paula Deen's contract when it expires at the end of this month,â€￾ a spokesperson said in a statement.

This lady made it on the ABC National news today. She looked so bad (I don't feel sorry for her though). She is probably just devastated because of all the money she is about to lose. :lol: :emlaugh: Her food network contract will not be renewed and ends this month.....
 
I'm not surprised...my sister in law had tickets to see her in Jackson and invited me...Paula had a black security person and tried to make a joke, saying that "Y'all speak in that what do you call it ...Ebonics?" Dude shook his head, the crowd went quiet...dude was not amused. She had some more off-color jokes and by the end, I think she was off the Paula Deen anything wagon for good. She hasn't mentioned her since.

Its there...always has been...just waiting for the "right" crowd...
 
It still amazes me how you modern day black folks eat these white folks southern cooking and think you are doing something. I guess yall wanna co-exist with these white folk so bad yall will do anything. :shame:

"I want a true Southern -plantation style wedding. Well what I would really like is a bunch of little ******s to wear long-sleeve white shirts, black shorts and black bow ties, you know in the Shirley Temple days, they used to tap dance around. Now that would be a true Southern wedding wouldn't it?"

The above just CAN'T be true.:smh: If it is, I don't know how she hid such outward racism for such a long time. Wow!!

By the way, didn't a certain school do a halftime show with white long-sleeve shirts, black pants and were tap dancing? Hmmm.:smh:

Paula Deen was out to prove she wasn't a racist back in 2012 ... an she did so by bringing in her hard-to-see Black friend.

Paula was speaking with the New York Times ... and explained how her great-grandfather was devastated when the Civil War ended ... because he couldn't figure out how to run his plantation without "help" :rolleyes:-- aka slaves.

Paula then plays show and tell with her friend, Hollis Johnson, who is "black as that board" (her words) while pointing to the background.

At one point she hollers, "Come out here Hollis. We can’t see you standing against that dark board.":smh:

How'd she have the foresight to play the "Black friend" card before it became necessary?

Its the "Blue-eyed Soul Singer" phenomenon. Black folks basically created and have been cooking southern cuisine but somehow if you put a white face on it, some of us go to falling over ourselves.
 
Watch that show on OWN with Oprah and her. Some of the most awkward shit ever. Oprah trying to act like she was having a good time. Paula trying to not be obviously racist.
 
When black folks who live in a world of denial wake up and see the truth about racism and white Americans we will be okay. The sad part is there are more black folks who think white folks like us the white folks.

One with your lack of perception would think so, but you'd be wrong once again.

I have never said that "everything is ok" nor have I ever said that "stuff like this doesn't exist". I fully recognize that there is racism and discrimination in America. I recognize the harm that it can cause people.

What I object to is allowing "stuff like this" to be used as an excuse for Black failure. There are those among us who spend their time looking for "stuff like this" in order to use it to explain any and every failing of the Black community.

Too many of us have been allowed to use "stuff like this" as a soothing balm to ease the pain of a life that's really a collection of bad decisions.

However, there are many, many other Black people who have used "stuff like this" to force better lives for themselves and their families. Through education. Hard work. Frugality. Dignity. Self-respect. Honorable Achievement. Perseverance.

Different perspective, my brother. "Stuff like this" can be a stumbling block or a building block". Depends on how you see it:

The sooner those black folks (who are in denial) understand that all white people aren't the enemy and that all black folks aren't your friends we really will be OK.
 
So, the woman who fanticizes about dressing black people up as slaves because she thinks it's cute, uses slurs and creates a hostile environment for her employees isn't a white supremist?
