Man please...his biggest downfall was he wanted to win. Paterno didn't give a daymn about any of that, he did the bare minimum required by the law and that's all. Which all of this came out when he was alive.
These e-mails will only be used to help the victims in a civil suit against the Paterno's and that won't be an easy victory b/c his family is pissed.
I think the NCAA is gonna act, in some way. I would say, the NCAA HAS to act. That report released today just might be the tipping point to getting the gloves to finally come off and hold Penn State and Paterno accountable for enabling Sandusky. At its highest levels, Penn State covered up these horrendous acts. For YEARS. By them doing that, they allowed this stuff to go on. For YEARS. All in the name to continue with Penn State football being Penn State football. To hell with the kids being abused and raped. :smh:I know the NCAA is not to step in and do anything because they really are not in violation of any "NCAA" rules,
So what are the people going to do...sue Jo Pa's family?
His estate, are you serious? Deceased people's estates get sued all the time.
I mean another thing....If the NCAA doesn't do anything about it then it will be just business as usual...I mean like someone pointed out earlier they just had one of the best recruiting classes this year as they have had in a long long time....
you roll out....wow...come on people I know I aint the only one that is Screaming Give Eddie his record back!
Do I think Penn State deserves to pay? Sure. Do I think Joe Paterno's legacy and good name is ruined forever? No doubt.
However, I can't be among the people who are now demanding Paterno to be stripped of wins so that Eddie Robinson can hold the all-time wins record.
I can't because we don't know what skeletons might be hiding in Robinson's closet. The NCAA was on him for suspected violations when he was walking the sidelines at Grambling.
And even if Paterno was stripped of wins, it wouldn't erase all the evil Jerry Sandusky committed and the powers that be at Penn State who allowed it with no resistance.
Screw the record. It ain't about no record. It's about a school and community which allowed innocent kids to be repeatedly sodomized and did nothing to stop it. That should be focus here. The victims who have to live with that s*** for the rest of their lives. Eddie Robinson being the all-time wins leader as a result of this horrible scandal so folks can create another deity-like coaching figure would be no cause for celebration in my book.

Agreed. If we allow a persons character be the judge istead of their record on the field/court, how many wins would be forfieted for 'Bad Behavior'. Would the Saints be superbowl champs? Would Kentucky basketball be what it is (Rupp was racists). . . Jordan no longer 6 time champ because he ran women and gambled . . And on and on and on. . .
This is much deeper than a wins and losses man. . Who cares about the dam* record in regards to what those kids went though. .
"Before May 1998, several staff members and football coaches regularly observed Sandusky showering with young boys in the Lasch Building (now the East Area Locker Building or "Old Lasch"). None of the individuals interviewed notified their superiors of this behavior."
:smh::smh:
With all the cover-up going on for so long, I'm pretty sure it developed into some type of cultural for pedophiles associated with the Penn State football program.

Barry Switzer said this when it first came out months ago, that no way that you be around someone like coaches do and not hear or see something. He said folks on that staff knew about Sandusky. I always said, that is why Paterno fired him in 98 or 99 when dude was only 50 something years old. Why the University didn't part with this guy all the way around is beyond me. It's like Sandusky had something on them. Or like I have said in other threads. Somebody bigger than Penn State is involved with them boys. Just doesn't make sense to me. Why would you cover up something for a damn assistant coach? How would it embarrass the school? It would have made them look like heroes had they told the authorities about Sandusky. There is more to this. I want them to continue investigating. Somebody is getting a free pass on this one. No way one man was that important to cover up just to protect the Penn State football brand. There is more to it. They are hiding more isht. If they all told the police when they should have. The media would have applauded Joe Pa and Penn State for being righteous and exposing a pedophile. How they sat there and concluded it would embarrass the school is beyond comprehension. Sandusky has something on them or somebody. He has to.
I agree 100% that the bigger picture is about those kids and the damage that was done to them, but I still say that because of the reason it was allowed to go on so long was about that record...so are you guys saying that it is ok for them to reach their goal and still claim all the glory of having such a prestigious record associated with Joe Pa and Penn State once this all blows over (and it will, you know it will) down the line, as long as they take their lick now. So the no pain no gain rule is in effect right? Now the pain and suffering was put in those folks life, and allowed to continue so that Joe Pa and Penn State could accomplish this...for those kids and their family that ain't going away, but for the rest of the College Sports world when this all blows over and everyone else has forgotten about this, they will still have that accomplishment in their trophy case...I think that is very unfair...I think that is a crime in itself...That's just like robbing a bank, hiding the money right before you get caught, doing your time, then when you get out, reaping the benefits of your crime and living off those benefits...
You can punish Sandusky and the others for covering up the crime, but Joe is dead...he should not be punished, rather be allowed to be rewarded for being the all-time winningest coach in the history of the D1 football, right?....Now how is that cool....
Now honor the victims by punishing ALL that were involved properly! That may not solve their hurt, but it would be justice!
Somebody with some big political might must be involved for all them to jeopardize their careers covering for a damn fired assistant coach. Unless some of them are pedophiles too.
Dude, Sandusky is going to die in jail. Joe is dead and the rest of those folks have been fired and probably will serve time. Penn State will have to pay millions in damages to victims.
The record doesn't matter, bro. I don't know why you are so hell bent on Eddie Robinson being recognized in this fashion. The guy is in numerous hall of fames, and is well respected in football circles.
Attitudes like yours are the very reason why the folks at Penn State felt they could get away with covering up child rape.
We all know Robinson was a great coach. And him not being the all-time wins leader doesn't change that. Sheesh! This whole debate is not about rewarding Robinson. It is about inflating the egos of the fandom who worships this man.
If JoePa wasn't dead, he'd most likely be going to jail along with the others...
You are trying to mesh stuff to make a nonvalid point.
The record matters to many. If not you, cool. Keep it moving. Don't get why it irks you that people want JoePa expunged from the leaderboard. Its called differences of opinion.
The last highlighted...the fact that someone wants a wrong righted doesn't take away from the injured young men. Its saying BECAUSE the YOUNG MEN were injured, this guy shouldn't be revered. I mean, what kind of BS are we promoting when they walk in and see their rapist's boss--who was well aware they were being molested--standing up there proudly?
Cconnecting the dots = FAIL
