Parent body-slams ref at high school basketball game

That's the way it should be. Whiny arse parents produce whiny arse kids, so when the parents are in the stands bytching and moaning about a bad call or a no call it only passes down to the child. The next thing you know, you have teams full of "superbrats" running around. These kids need to learn that everything will not go their way either on the court, in the field, or in life in general and they can't just throw a bytch fit everytime something happens.

Yeah. You can see that in the NBA.:D

Topaz,

Disagree with me if you must but children should be taught to stand up against other children when they believe they're right, but they should never stand up against adults.Children should make their complaints known to their parents and let the parents take on the adults.
When you pit children against adults, you're putting them in a no win situation.

Butch, I believe we are on the same page, but I'm saying the IF or WHEN the situation arises when my child must stand up for himself against adults (and this does happen) I know he will.

These are not usually people just going about their own business as usual, I find the problem in the school system of all places--janitorial staff, substitutes and some predjudice teachers. Usually, he'll tell them, lets go to the office and get this straightened out right now or we need to call my parents, not wait until he gets home and then I have to try to find out what's going on the next day.

So, this is what I mean by standing up against adults because some adults do bullly children on a regular basis. He's not just walk around disrespectful and mouthy.

As a Sports Mom that loves to yell at officials (including obscenities), I will say that in the heat of the moment, you sometimes lose your mind, especially when its my baby at bat/fouled/tackled, etc.

In my opinion, I think the referees are acting like punks--can't take criticism, think they run the stands, want to censor parents, etc. Not saying that I actually would have tackled the referee but I dayum sure have wanted to.

This is a dayum shame and the fact that you are proud and feel justified is beyond even my realm of understanding. I coach youth sports and have played all my life, and parents like you who take A GAME played by children as serious as you do disgust me. Refs have no reason to make a call against a child and parents who imply such are a serious problem! And even further, they are refs, humans, and can't get every call right. Plus every call against your team is not a bad call. You know your child, and his/her team can make mistakes too.

Parents should be there to cheer and support. Yell at the team to play hard, yell at your kid to not quit, yeah get mad when you think there is a bad call, but to try and berate another grown person over a game and to justify it just because you are a parent, to me is the ultimate definition of assanine!

I agree with you Sugar and also think it's assinine as well! :D:D:D

My son has played league ball (football, basketball, soccer) since he was 4. I never curse the refs, coaches, or the children. I cheer for them and scream and shout when Superstar makes a good play (that little ni**a can HOOP, but I digress), but I don't use profane language because I don't want anyone cursing to him. I don't curse him and call him names and I don't want that kind of language directed towards him during the game. There is a mother in the league (not on my son's team) who curses the entire game. MFs, this, MFs, that, batch this, batch that and the BREC officials at the game asked her to SHUT UP!

She is a piss poor example of a mother to me! And if she calls Superstar a MF, imma kick that batches azz 'til I can't! :redhot:

Quick Story....

I had a kid this year that cursed like a sailor. I mean he could teach a class in cussin he was so good, and was only 12 years old. Everytime he cussed at practice I made him run because I don't tolerate that on my teams. We played our first game and he cussed the ref and another player, the ref didn't have a chance to kick him out of the game because I had already pulled him and told him he could take off his pads because he would not be playing anymore that game for me. But as soon as that happened Mommy went ballistic and started "going off" in the stands. She called me more fat MF and batches than I have ever been called. But I just ignored her and kept coaching. At the end of the game she was in my face, I continued to ignore her and just walked away. But she wouldn't let it go. She the put her hands on me and I told her she might not want to do that again. At that point the dad shows up, and he made the situation even worse. They were ask to leave, and just like the earlier story, they cussed the park president like he was their servant. Finally when I had enough of both cussing me(this went on for over 30 minutes) I told the father. You are the weakest kind of man I know, you sit here and talk this way in front of all these other respectable parents and kids, and you have called me every name you can think of. But I won't be any more MF's today. You speak to me in that manner again and you won't have to worry about what the park pres can do to you, because I will kick your arse out of this park. I think it hit him that I was no small fellow, and he walked away.

Two weeks later, that same kid was kicked out of the park....for cussin out the Park President and another kids mother. Wonder where he learned that from.......

Love me, hate me, I'm still gonna be me so if any of y'all come through while baseball season, football season or basketball season is going on in Franklin County, MS, I'll still be there telling the refs off until THEY get it right.

Peace out.
