Oprah Reportedly Interested in Purchasing Los Angeles Clippers

Yeah it will be. It may be others who declare they want the team. I agree with you on Mayweather. He has no chance. Now maybe they let him invest a small percentage with some group. But I can't see him getting anyone to back him as the lead guy and put their money up to sit in the background while he does his Money Mayweather act. LOL.

I am actually shocked Oprah would want to be involved in a sports franchise. Doesn't seem to be her interest. And since she is so close to Magic and Cookie. I would have thought she would join forces with him and his folks. One thing we know. This whole episode is bringing attention to the NBA big time. LOL.

It's definitely going to be a saga....lol; In terms of the ownership, she has already stated that she would not be involved in certain parts of the day to day functions. I am just wondering how large her piece of the pie would be. Her "brand" without a doubt has value to compliment, though small in comparison to the NBA. This will be an interesting case study. :emlaugh:

Yall all making the assumption that Sterling is just going to give up without a fight. Dude is a lawyer. Lawyers just don't lay down without fighting. I will suspect this will be a long time before the NBA can force this guy out. He will tie it in litigation for sure.

Sterling better watch it or he would be pushing up daisies in the very near future. I believe there are folks with way more money then him that have an interest in this and they are not going to let him drag their money through some court litigation.

With Oprah's connections, I'm not prepared to say she could not put together a group that couldn't handle this purchase.......It appears she already has.

Oprah, David Geffen, Oracle's Ellison to Bid for Clippers

Oprah Winfrey is teaming up with billionaires David Geffen and Larry Ellison to make a bid to buy the Los Angeles Clippers from disgraced owner Donald Sterling.

Geffen told ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap on Wednesday that billionaire Oprah, who owns the TV network OWN, would just be an investor, while he would run the team with Ellison, the CEO of Oracle.

No doubt oprah can put a team together. Larry Ellison aint no joke. But I believe if Magic got this same financial team on board with a solid plan, no way they turn down the chance to "use" Magic as the face of the Clippers right across the hall from the Lakers. Think about all the promotion weight that would be in the 2nd biggest media sports market in this country for the NBA. That would be a no brainer for this situation image and more important player wise.

I agree partically. There are richer owners than him but if you rank them, he still falls in the top 10. The only ones that really stand out by memory is Allen (Portland and Seahawks owner) Gilbert (Cavs), Dolan (Knicks), Heats owner forgot his name, maybe the sixers, and the Grizzles most recent owner. Also Cuban with the mavricks. Outside of that, those other owners are around the same wealth as Sterling or less. I could be wrong.

It would be adding salt on the wound if they made him sell the team to a black person tho. Lol.

This might go beyond the other current owners. The $200 billion dollars investors that individuals are saying are backing Magic, doesn't own a NBA team. I'm not sure if the NBA is not trying to extend its foot print into overseas markets. Imagine the NBA having teams in Europe or Dubai. The NFL has already started the process of placing a team in Europe.
