The Air Force Falcons (0-1) could not hold their lead against the Alcorn St. Braves (1-0), losing 7-5 in a late-game slugfest. The Falcons jumped ahead to a 5-0 lead, but saw their early dominance fade in the later innings at Alcorn State came rushing back.

In the first inning, the Air Force baseball team jumped to a 2-0 lead when C Garrett Custons doubled to set up a CF Alex Blast sac fly and a DH Adam Hill RBI single. The Falcons poured on more punishment in the third as Custons doubled again, setting up another sac fly. An RBI walk from 2B Blair Roberts and a RBI single from LF Taylor Ausbun later, and Air Force was leading 5-0.

Jordan Fox was 2 for 2 with two RBI and Phillip Ferragamo dealt four shutout innings to lead UC Irvine to a 5-3 win over Alabama State Friday in the Urban Youth Invitational. Originally scheduled to be played at the Houston Astros MLB Urban Youth Academy facility, the Anteaters and Hornets played their season opener at Minute Maid Park.

...
Alabama State rallied again in the ninth, working back-to-back leadoff walks off Race Parmenter. Jimmy Litchfield was called from the bullpen and retired one on a fielder's choice before Alabama State scored a run on a sacrifice fly from Einar Muniz. Pinch-hitter Ryan Epperson extended the inning with a double down the left-field line, putting runners on second and third but Merten picked up for Litchfield and induced a pop-up to Shaeffer behind the plate to end the game.

Cal Irvine is ranked #24. ASU has a new roster. 19 freshmen. I think ASU baseball will be alright.

teams are winning without blacks in the SWAC now and that's scary...SU is a shell of its former self with only 4 blacks on the field and Bama State has 1 black in the field with the rest whites and Puerto Ricans.

Those composite bats in Minute Maid ain't made for that field...just play deep and you'll catch everything

fewer blacks are playing baseball and just like basketball, the cream of the crop either go pro or to top notch schools. see south carolina.
