I saw some snippets of these films on a BET black movie showcase back when they gave a damn about culture and the arts. :lol: That Oscar Micheaux seems to have been the primary director of the time...yet, none of the black directors of the day even mention him. Hmmm

I saw that one before. It's actually funny! Ole Joe was a character in that movie.

I too remember when BET use to show classic movies from the 40s and so on. One that stands out in my memory was one with Cab Calloway where he had this chick that he wrote a song about. The chick was none other than Minnie the Moocher. Guess I need to go on wikipedia to find out the title of that movie.

Another favorite from back in the day was Carmen Jones. I always wanted to see Porgy & Bess. At least I had the Miles Davis musical interpretation for the movie when I was in college.
