Football= GSU

Hell, 102 views so far and aint nobody said nothing.....

Give it up, peeps.....

TxSU arrived on the campus of GSU very early. Like at about 9:30am

AFter everyone chnaged they the various sections were warming up as the Highschool bands battled in the same general area. Soon a few of the HS band members came over and watched as the various sections were warming up. FUnktrain began to run their usual warm up routine.

FInally the Ocean set up in concert formation in the praking lot played some scales tunned up and begane to give a short concert for all the Highshool bands that were there.
They played the following

Don't Cry
Slo Love
Charlie Last name Wilson
My Band Fanfare
Act Like That Fanfare

The OCean then Marched in.

Gram was already set up for the most part.

Gram Played a fanfare which sound pretty good. They sounded alot better than they did at the Stae Fair Classic.

THey then began to play a few marches. THis is when they(GRAM) were exposed. "Them Basses" was ok but not that great. They trhen played Stars and stripes which was terrible. At some point in thew song there were some MAJOR] Tempo problems. YOu could hear the audience . They were l.ike dang they off. what was bad was it was mostly the Highshoolers that was tripping on it the hardest.

AT this point the Ocean played a few tunes as well. I can't remember all of them but each band played like dfove or more tunes early on.

While TxSU was playing I recorded gram band members dancing to TxSU's music (alla Drumline).
First half was what nad what although TxSU sounded cleaner than gram and had better song selection.

Halftime
TxSU

Drummajor entrance was pretty good. TxSU female drumamjor is really good

TxSU's Flag Corp the "Waves" did a nice routine on the intor of the drill tune.

The Ocean drilled to "Off the Wall " by Micheal Jackson. It was a very unique drill. wasn't too long but not too short either.

The "Motion" had a very nice Dance routine. It was the best I've seen yet from them. Very Classy .

Dance Break Down was very tight. They got House on both sides of the field . They then salutede Grams for their Golden Homecoming and played the Theme from 227 "No place like Home" They got mad love from Grams Crowd on Both sides.
GSU

The World famed did a typical Gram show. I wasn't able tomakeoutwhat they were playing. They had what looked like a potentially nice drill but their execution was very poor. There wee many who could not march 8 to 5. I was like dayum.

Their dancers were wearing panties and bras and was not that great looking. What killed Grams show was their annoucer's. They talked toomuch and was corny with what they were saying. The dance routine was ok.
Basically Gram left alot to be desired. I was expecting them to really show out at their homecoming but they didn't.

The second half was pretty much the same as the first.

TxSU's "I'm SPrung " was a Beast.

Grams strongest sections seemto be their lower brass.

One thing that I loved about this game was the fact that their were "NO SECTIONAL BATTLES"
The bands just kept blowing at each other. TxSU had a better song selection plus Gram didn'tknow all of their music which was so obvious. There were a few songs that Gram played that was decent but for themost part they werenot prepared fully.

There was no fifth quarter.

Do you think that GSU had tempo problems because the ocean started blowing while Grambling was playing? :shame:

They probably did that becasue Gram started blowing on the "Ocean" first when they were playing "Don't Cry"

TxSU just returned the favor. :)

Besides the part where it was terribly bad was when GSU was playing "Stars and Stripes".

TxSU wasn't even playing at this point..

:read: Well, we are @ 226 and we got only one. That means Grambling did a good job because all the haters can't pull themselves up to admit something positive about Grambling.

Well Not to Start anything, but we was playing Stars and Stripes and TxSU started to play dont cry, and and it was like everytime gram played TxSU played too, so we were clashing all the time. but TxSU and Gram were both good.

They started playing well after the tempo mess up on Stars and stripes so don't cry wasn't an issue. I reviewd the tape and Gram was not playing anything on DOn't Cry . :)

I think you are talking about the football game being lopsided! I thought both bands were good. I'm not going to sit here and say everything Gram did was excellent and everything TXSO did was bad. Both bands were good, enjoyed the Ocean of Soul, and the World Famed. This is what Black College Football is about.

Wrong. GSU hasn't disputed the claims, which means to me that the "Ocean" represented

Trust me, if GSU had waxed the "Ocean," this page would be full of disclaimers :ebrow:

He didn't say the Ocean did bad. He didn't say that GSU waxed the Ocean.

Some of you need to stop reading into to stuff and making statements based on what's not there.

Dang! I think I'm coming to Houston for the SWAC Double Header Thanksgiving Weekend. I miss a good Halftime Show. I KNOW that Ocean will deliver./ All I got to see was AAMU and ASU for the Classic where the commercials about the Halftime show were better than the actual show itself. *sigh*

 Thanks for clearing that up.

I'm sorry to be blunt folks...But Grambling sucked!!!!!!!! They could only be heard when you were standing right in front of the band.......When you stood on the other side, you couldn't hear anything....They had tempo problems because they didn't know their music....On Stars and Stripes, How in the hell you mess up a whole 3 measures....And when yall director cut yall off it, only made it obvious...Either he cut yall off or yall just stop playin? What was that? The song selections were terrible, No you didn't try to play the whole song to Laffy Taffy in the stands.... It was just a weak performance by Grambling, I was very disappointed....Halftime was very degrading. your fans looked like, Is that it? It's a shame the Ocean goes to Grambling every other year and takes all the recruits from all the High Schools in attendance.....The program is suffering....You guys our living off the past..............Just like Southern is...........................

Sorry about that post yall, but I am not about to say that Grambling did a good job when I know they sucked!!! then they gonna think that what they doing is ok? F that........

:smh: I'm sorry but, normally I would eat your arse up for making statements like that. Statements like that are an act of war. However,....I have grown too tired to fight and I have to choose my battles more carefully.
Having said that,...let me only say that you have a right to your opinion. I don't have to agree with it.

I am not going to sit here and take that.....................GSU and TxSU both did a good job. And to be real, TxSU House came from the Fat Guys that came out, and the Band ripple push up. GSU Got house on their whole breakdown. Yes TxSU is powerful, but GSU was more Musical. you guys didn't take all of the high school recruits, thats a down right lie.

Alright!!!!.....there you go and not to mention the announcer knew how to arouse (suck up to) the home crowd. I still will go to my grave saying that it's rude for two bands to be playing at the same time trying to out sound each other is just plain childish!!!!

Good for you cjdeshawn!!!! Take over and keep the haters in check for me.

The alumni tuba section really put on a clinic in the 3rd quarter. If you did not get a chance to hear them those cats, you really missed a treat. In fact the alumni drummers did a outstanding job as well. I really enjoyed listening to those cats play. It two them a song or two to get in sync but after that. They were on point and very clean.
