oh well. with our 9 game mandate and championship game played after the playoffs start, the swac not getting a bid anyway. cant speak for the rest but im a playoof guy but i gave up on this conference committing to anything out of conference a long time ago. it is what it is. personally, i would like for jsu to play the fcs louisana and texas schools in the regular season like we did in the 1980s and early 1990s. with tenn st locked in every year, that only leaves jsu with one date to schedule another game and that is labor day weekend. that is 10 games that is already scheduled for jsu every year.

What about this year and next year when you can schedule 12? They take advantage of it this year but what about next year?

When I look at what made the old Southland Conference great, it was that you had six football playing schools in Louisiana playing each other, year in and year out, plus games with schools in Texas and other regions....then you had the FBS wannabees move up. But, at what cost? Their home attendance is dead...and their expenses for traveling all over creation are exorbitant...

I'd love to see the SWAC and the Southland play more games...Their conference footprints overlap...they SHOULD play more frequently...It doesn't make sense for them not to..

When McNeese played Grambling, it was a great series. In 2002, it was the first game of the year and Grambling passed a lot, so it was tough for them to get their timing down in that kinda game.....In 2003, when we played the fourth game of the year, Grambling brought it! Through the years, we've played other SWAC teams and they've been good series...PV, TS, Grambling and now UAPB...The only school anybody's got a problem with is Southern and they did that to themselves...

But I digress...

jsu not playing 12 regular season games. That has already been set in stone. how about just getting rid of this crap 9 game mandate and if schools cant fill there 4 open slots this time, tell them bye bye. a ship with anchors dragging the ground aint going nowhere.

No knock on JSU, but that shows how much we have regressed as a conference.

And he comes from a D2 school that used to beat a SWAC school on the regular. Look like somebody would realize that SWAC schools have the wrong people in and around their programs. IMO, I believe Doug is bullying GSU.

Wow...that article is a slap in the face of the SWAC

Look, it's time for the SWAC leaders to come together and figure some sh*t out...because it's a damn shame that the SWAC has fallen so far back. I want to see the SWAC(as well as all HBCU conferences) do well. It's time for some things to change in the SWAC ASAP

Or it may be time for some teams to find some other homes...

No argument here. The next (and probably best) step for all SWAC schools to go D-2.

Dude speak for your own school. All these lower tier schools always trying to include other schools with their wretchedness.:smh:

Please, stop the BS.

The only reason you "won" a game yesterday is because you played another SWAC school. JSU along with everybody else in the SWAC would be dead last in any other non-HBCU conference.

just stop. we talking about what the dumbazzes leading this conference and the drone hbcu only fans have done to this conference. isolation and thinking fcs is in aw of us because of some damm classics have killed us.

I am not sure if our AD knows how to make a good schedule. That remains to be seen. However, while I am totally against the playoffs, I think we need a 7 game format back.

for real. i would be glad if some dropped so we could invite teams with the big picture of fcs in mind. if the swac did drop to d2, i would be on the front line demanding jsu leave and go indy or join another conference. all this d2 talk is another way of the swac and these fans giving up like we did the playoffs. :smh:

Just have to put better people in the power positions.

Right they have a problem with us yet we are playing a home-and-home with Northwestern State.

Naw bruh, don't get me wrong. I'm not wishing for ANY of our schools to go D2. But there doesn't appear to be much of an effort being made by the conference or many of its member school to improve. If J-State doesn't fit into that category so be it.

Here's a link to what the folks covering FCS are saying about the SWAC over at The Sports Network after yesterday...

They think it's a good idea the SWAC doesn't send a rep to the playoffs...

Why should we care what the folks covering FCS thiknks of SWAC football? Even when SWAC was a better conference, they still felt the way they feel. That is the best they can do; they will always be that way.

exactly. the conference and a lot of its members are just glad to be able to party every saturday. actually getting better is a afterthought as long as we can beat each other. you know i been sick of the decisions made and attitude of fans reguarding fcs as a whole is concerned

Right they have a problem with us yet we are playing a home-and-home with Northwestern State.

The only reason that happened is because Broussard, who was an All-American center at Northwestern and cut his administrative teeth under Greg Burke, called his alma mater and got a game.

If Southern's fan base is all that, why didn't the other three SLC schools jump at the chance to take advantage of that free money you Jag fans swear y'all bring to the table?? Oh yeay, the rest of the SLC knows how you handle your business by not returning contracts you claim you didn't sign and then not returning games you DID sign to play..

If ANY other AD at Southern, besides Broussard the Northwestern Grad, comes calling, he'd have gotten busy signal...

Northwestern just took care of their own...nothing more, nothing less...
