North Carolina A&T vs Jacksonville State: Game Updates 6:00pm CT

In South we have some steep competition against JUCOs, D2, FCS schools, FBS programs and the P5....if we (SWAC) can ever get back FBS style lineman we would really kick ass!
+100000000000000000000000000 is there a love button on this site?? Preach man. What you are saying is music to football purists ears. The OL/DL (front 4) is what segregates in totality.

If your front 4 cannot dominate the run stop & pass rush to get sacks, how can one expect to have a defense that earns the right to be called dominant? smh

Honestly man. Tbh it’s really the JUCO’s. They just flock to a Mississippi JUCO and end up back in a power 5 conference

Im gonna be honest the difference between NC A&T and the MEAC in comparison to the SWAC is lineman...Those EAST coast linemans are as big as some PWI programs...

I'm SWAC through and through and it is a noticeable difference between the A&T DL/OL and some of our schools (Grambling is similar in build thus why they were able to go toe and toe with NCAT)

Most of A&T's transfers were DBs

A&T’s defensive line is beastly...they didn’t give Jax St. anything on the ground...against MEAC O-lines, they will certainly be a problem.

That's always been Broadway's strategy, play defense, capitalize on turnovers and play ball control offense. None of this over passing on offense. Keep the game close and win it in the end. It's as if Broadway was still coaching last night.

Gotta agree with you there. Only nitpick is that NCAT should’ve kept plugging away with Cartwright a little more just to keep Jacksonville defense honest and maybe take a shot down the field. With all that spreading the offense, Aggie Pride didn’t take shots downfield or work the middle of the field like Jacksonville did on offense.

they tried but that's a brand new offensive line out there so there wasn't much time to throw as that was an experienced defensive line. Plus the big receiver wasn't 100%

They were the VERY first thing I noticed when I tuned in. I remember thinking, “Lord them some BIG boys!”. And I believe there was either a RB (or might have been a TE) that pretty “sturdy”.

I hate to say it, but the truth is that the MEAC plays more physical than the SWAC in this era. They play like the old SWAC. Ever SWAC-MEAC Challenge and Celebration Bowl, those MEAC programs show more fire. We need to step up and get angry again. I remember hearing Jay Walker’s SWAC hating arse say that as well. I didn’t like it, but he is right. The MEAC is just more physical.

That's due to the passing offenses in the conference whereas the MEAC tends to play more of a ball control type offense.
In practice, the offense usually dictates how the defense will play during real time games.
Don't know why many of the teams in the SWAC have forgotten how to play more of a ball control type offense like Broadway used to do at Grambling.

I'll say this...just two years ago, S.U. had the conference all time leading rusher. Just 1 year ago Grambling had a running back that was good enough to sign as a free agent. The conference has never had a shortage of great receivers. I believe we need to play better and consistent defense. At the end of the day, in all three years, any team that participated in the CB could have won. We are 1-2 in the CB. We can use this win in the Challenge. Unfortunately, weather cheated us out of the Alcorn win in 1 game. As it stands, we are behind an abysmal 9-3 with Southern U garnering all 3 wins. I blame Grambling and Jackson State for not holding up their end of the bargain (otherwise the series would be tied).

Very true, but SU did get the easier opponents in those games. It’s still no excuses for the losses from GSU and JSU. The MEAC came into all of those games with a killer instinct and playing physical. We took too long to wake up. SU didn’t back down, reached deep, and found ways to win. In fact, SU usually stands up to other conferences in all sports when the camera is on. I have always given props to the Jags for that.
