I was thinking the same thing before the game. I was hoping we would come out running and gunning since MS State was certainly going to be tired (and mentally, they were still in the SEC Championship).

But after watching the game, I think our coaches had a good gameplan. I was very proud of how we played.
That one dumb move by one player overshadows everything for me. It is not that I hating on JSU. It is because I wanted so badly for us (swac) to shine last night. That was just too stupid.

Press them and their athleticism would've taken over, tired or not. That would've led to many easy baskets and many turnovers and quick shots for you----BLOWOUT.

They were tired, listless, and indifferent. You play a ball control game and work it for a good shot. That would keep them disinterested and out of rhythm. The crowd would be the same way. If you speed the game up, you're playing to their strength.

Basketball 101, never press and run with a team with superior athleticism. If you want to wear down a tired team, don't run with them where they can get easy baskets and dunks and play off adrenaline and the energy of the crowd. Make them work on defense and keep the crowd out of the game. Not only was it the right plan, but it was working. JSU had the ball and momentum with a chance to cut the lead to 4 or 3, and MSU was already starting to tighten up. Seven points later, I turned the TV off because I knew it was over.

"trying to be funny, i made a dumb post. i should have waited until the regular season at least started. I will never admit to these facts publicly. I will defend my original post in true george busch fashion. i should apologize to uapb, but i won't. I will never apologize to jsu. Never will i admitt that i was wrong."-->skyvolt2000

wow!!!!

J-State......

Remember when I wanted to give some of our players another chance and how evryone wanted to give me the 'beat-down'.............and what they(AAMU players) did wasn't on Nat'l T.V????????????????

Please tell me you were not one of those who were giving me "L" for wanting give some young kid another chance..........just asking?

Straw, I tell you what...find any post where I condemned any of our kids for studit/silly mistakes. I have fun with you guys but I don't direct it at the kids. I have a child so I know how children act and think, I was once in their shoes. Heck, Phillip pissed me off with that stunt, but I will not crucify him over it. A&M female player #22 was ejected in the tournament last week for throwing a punch, I didn't dog her for that action on tv or not.

We have a way of calming our own situations and degrading others. That's not my style. When Charlie White pulled that punk move on SU guard, it was piss-poor. I played and we knew how to get even without throwing punches on the field or court. As a catcher, umpire make a few bad calls; I let a couple pitches get by me until he decides to call the game right.

I stood in the stands at A&M with you and we talked about this very thing. You have the wrong brother. I assure you!

I agree. JSU coaches had the best plan. JSU was not going to be able to run with MSU whether they were tired or not. MSU was not mentally into the game and, as you said, was starting to tighten up. The punch changed the game completely and it was over from that point.

It's a shame because I really believe that JSU could have won that game.

We're straight............. and unlike most people I do sincerely hope that they (JSU Coaches & Admin) give him another chance. What he did was spur of the moment in the heat of competition and if anybody who has ever played anything competitive even with their own family members..........they should know how things can get out of hand for one second or two. I would be willing to bet you $1000 to a dime that the young man regrets his actions (especially on Nat'l T.V.) and I'll bet he is upset at himself.

I say KEEP the young man on the team......have him call the other player involved and apologize, also apologize to his team and coaches and do some community activity that will benefit young kids in the Jackson area.

Excellent idea. We have to make sure our kids understand their bad decisions. Williams is a good kid from what I have experienced; he has a confident swagger about himself that got the best of him. Trash talking is one thing, taking a cheap is different. I for one know how easy it is to talk a person out of their game. I was one of the best at it. When you play against someone who is a little better than you, you have to learn to gain an edge. I did by trash talking; Larry Bird was a master at it.
