Niki Reid Geckeler leaves Howard for Towson State

See...it is a totally different situation for coaches to leave HBCU's to get jobs at PWIs in the sport of basketball.

Seriously, since 2000, could you name any coaches besides maybe Buddy Pough and perhaps Doug Williams that has accomplished anything that would facilitate an offer from a PWI? It's all about the W/L(s) and putting a quality product on the field. Our HBCU football programs have failed miserably at the aforementioned. I don't think it has anything to do with the sports.....Just My Humble Opinion.

Actually, I think it has more to do with the quality of the product than anything else and how it is perceived by other "mainstream" programs.

Why not consider Pete Richardson when he was hot. I think Buddy Pough should be considered. Doug had his chance and blew it. Broadway was considered but nobody pulled the trigger. I think Joe Taylor (when he was hot) was being considered for the Navy position.

I think there are a number of coaches that could be considered now for PWIs but are not because of the (negative) perception HBCU football has in the eye of the "mainstream".

basketball is different. we play and beat them in basketball. when that happens, they say we need that guy running our program. roman banks keeps it up and he'll have all kinds of programs knocking on his door. in football we don't play them and consequently can not beat them so they don't come knocking. if perhaps we only played 7 conference games and all of our schools got out there and scheduled the other 4 or 5 games against pwc and we won those games, other programs would see our coaches differently.

And MEAC football coaches demonstrate in the playoffs they can't compete even when they have more or equal talent.

+10000000000000000000000000000000 But so, so many are so dumbfoundedly blinded into thinking THIS is the greatest thing that was ever created today. :emlaugh:  :lmao:

How dumb of them. lol But, in their defense, I do see SOME teams making improvements. :read:
