The Olympian
Nike Ditches Plan for New Allen Iverson Sneaker After Allen Iverson Got Mad
By Marissa Payne

Allen Iverson is a Reebok guy. He’s been a Reebok guy since 1996, when the Philadelphia 76ers drafted him No. 1 overall. His signature shoe, “The Answer,†is to Reebok almost what Jordans are to Nike; that is, they’re a big deal. So, when Nike decided to make what looks like a tribute sneaker in its “Zoom Flight ’96″ collection to Iverson — and, reportedly, not ask him for his permission to use his likeness — the retired star said no way. Nike announced they were abandoning the plan on Thursday.

“Nike is clearly trying to use Allen Iverson’s celebrity status and persona to promote Nike’s shoes,†Challenger told the AP. “There’s no other No. 3 that played for the 76ers that came out of the 1996 draft. For Nike to use his status to sell shoes, and not get his permission, to not compensate him, is bad business.â€

I bought some years ago (Question 3) and just started wearing them.

I want to get some of those 1996's that they dropped early this year.

People still buy reeboks?

You know you are showing your age right? You can tell when people start getting old.

If people are not buying reebok their marketing needs to make a big deal over nike trying to put this shoe out because of how important this shoe is, and people will wait in line to get it. Smart companies use this type of media to sell product. Reebok will probably do nothing which is why they are the Reebok; you have to ask if people still buy.

Nobody said anything about NB, Puma, Converse or Adidas.... Im sure you do see some Rebooks... but you also see Hoops, buddies and Skips.

They really are  Those are the heaviest shoes I've ever worn. When I rebound, I like spring and those shoes are HEAVY.

Cee, you can have those reeboks.. Lol.. I only play sports and run in Nike's now. Adidas and Underarmour almost ended my career.
