"Invited prospects would be barred from 'any league-related event' if a background check turns up a felony or misdemeanor conviction," Jones noted. "Players that refuse to submit to a background check will also be uninvited."

Those players would also not be invited to the draft.

Well you know the next step is these kids with those convictions will not even be allowed to play ball in college. Some colleges will not admit regular students with those backgrounds. Especially sexual assault.

The ACLU will step in real soon. This is going to get very interesting especially if there are few top players with these issues.

ACLU will not have a case. They are not banning them from being drafted. Just from the Combine.

I think the NFL is a non-profit 501c6.

I thought that this is between the league and the players. Cam Newton and Von Miller didn't sue the league when the leave adopted its current rookie pay scale.

Those guys with rap sheets don't have a leg to stand on.

It is. OTL brought that up on a show about them and the PGA being nonprofits but raking in all the money they do. Especially with the NFL.

Don't think the NFLPA is going to let this fly (and before anyone else brings it up about this prevents cats from just participating in the Combine, the NFL suspended those OSU cats for something that they did in college before they were officially in the NFL (basically Terrelle Pryor)

The league office is a non profit only. The teams are not. Since the league distributes the TV money to the teams they are able to be considered a non-profit just like the SEC/Big10 etc are able to even though they funnel millions through their offices to the schools. I think they were considering reclassifying for P.R. purposes though.

The league and players set the rules for initial employment. Don't see a problem with this.
