UAPB names SU assistant
Evans women's head coach

Assistant coach Danny Evans, who helped the Southern University women's basketball program put together a blockbuster signing class, is leaving to become the head women's basketball coach at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Evans on Thursday said he signed a three-year contract with UAPB, a rival with Southern in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

"I'm so excited for Danny," Southern women's basketball coach Sandy Pugh said. "It's a wonderful opportunity for him to go in and jumpstart a program. They're getting a great guy. ... He'll be hard to replace."

Well he is the same guy that's responsible for a lot of SU recruit so if you wanna give him back that's fine.

Make no mistake Danny knows his X's & O's and is a very good man.
 
if Danny is a Sandy Pugh clone UAPB is in trouble.....SU's women is called Jaguars instead of Lady Jaguars and Pugh wants the program to have as much publicity as possible despite what pays the bills

when I read a press release that states the program will have a media guide before the season when the school only has 2 SIDs....someone is in trouble

UAPB has only 1 SID and hasn't put out a book in years...

glad he got the opportunity but recruiting at UAPB and SU is a whole different animal when it comes to facilities...

Why are you so negative about everything? If you put some of that energy in your own programs it might help.:shame: :lecture:

I know you see more than the negative in the conference and I don't see you posting that. Don't believe "everything" you see and hear, if you do, you're setting yourself up for alot of disappointments son. Btw, this is the sport board not smack.

I believe tbf is "good people." I think that he just has a lot of growing up to do. He doesn't quite understand yet that making a feeble attempt to tear one down does not lift another up. He is knowledgeable about some things but just have a competitive nature that comes with the aforementioned character flaw. :lol: Please keep in mind that he has Louisiana blood and the cooking in Texas is horrible. Consequently, this also makes him angry to the extent that sometimes he can't even reason. I checked with the CDC here in ATL; and was told there is no remedy. Pappadeaux's is just like giving a crack head coffee to satisfy his craving. :lol:

see you don't know me...Pappadeaux's ain't my favorite place.....if I wanted watered down seafood for half my check I might as well eat at Captain D's...I'm not the typical black person in Houston...BTW..I don't lie enough at the bar to fit in...

I been around the conference....I know how folks think and I know how certain schools operate

I believe he will do well at UAPB. Hell with his background he might be coaching the mens' team as well.

I hope so. If you know my posts, I had to take a jab since he comes from another SWAC school, especially SU. I watched two of the girls games this year and I am sure he will be an improvement.

If he could use his connections and get some girls out of the Duncanville ISD (where he use to coach), UAPB would be off da chain.
 
UPAB has a good man and a good coach. The hard part is getting good women's basketball players to come to UAPB. Baton Rouge and Pine Bluff are two different academic and social places to offer a student-athlete.

Wish Danny good luck but he knows that we will have to Booo the crap out of him when he comes back to B.R. But he expects no less from us! Hope that UAPB fans will actually support the program...

1. Two things will get my fickle PB fans out.
A winner. We will jump on the band wagon if suddenly we start winning. See 2004 football season
2. Change. Change like getting a new coach. He will have support for 2 games if he loses those 2 they will come for a while.
I have high hopes for the new coach. I think he is a higher quaity coach then PB usually recruits. He will improve the program.
