Wouldnt that be a great battle?
Pre-Katrina-N.O. by a landslide ( You wanna talk legendary??? St. Aug, Kennedy, Mac 35, John Mac, St. Mary's)
Post Katrina-ATL by a landslide.
If you compare the N.O. in it's prime to ATL in its prime there is no comparison. The N.O. gave ATL the blueprint.
Dude stop lying. Now I don't know about the late 90's but if you go back to the 80-91 yall weren't jack. Man St. Augustine got blew back to NO by the one and only BTW at MLK parade 85,86 and I ithnk they were there in 87. Also those fake BTW folks in NO found out the hard way on Bourbon Street that we don't play. :emlaugh: We even blew them out at SU's homecoming in Fall 85.
Uh what HS is that Cee? I was in the Juke back then........I sincerely do not believe ATL bands as a whole could mess with New Orleans HS bands in the early to mid 80s. 35, Kennedy, St. Aug, John Mac, Fortier and others were a force. That's who populated the Juke back then. Not to mention the Houston High Schools during that time period were monsters. Forest Brook, Smiley, etc....
.
It sounds like you are speaking only from the schools you know. Come on now... what justification is that? (Thats who populated the Juke)... does that make a justification for the argument?.... Im sure people from FAMU and many other colleges during that same 80s era could say the same thing about the ATL schools.
Keep in mind its somebody from ATL in probably EVERY HBCU band... and ATL runs ALOT of different HBCU bands

I think Fam has always been more populated with Miami Students. And Didn't SWD turn showstyle(black) in like the early mid 90's ? how is that legandary?
But I'd say NOLA. More history, more heart, IMO.
outta all my CBs/CSs and folk that came in after me, NO peeps were better players and leaders...
in 03 every section that had someone from NO in it, had a N.O. Crab Section leader...

Dude my frat bruhs and sorors who pledged at FAMU from New Orleans (35 HS) got over there and took over in the late 80s.
Unlike most of yall schools. SU saw FAMU back then. So I knew the makeup over there. The ATL kids were not running the 100 in the 80s like they have in the 90s and 2000's. I just know what kind of musicians we had that went to play professionally from those NO HS. Same for Houston. My boys who were from the ATL HS(like Mays and Douglass) that went to SU would tell you the same. Stephenson was not even a thought back in the early 80s. Neither was Redan, or most of those suburban ATL schools. Those schools rose up in the 90s as the black folks moved out to Stone Mountain, DeKalb county and such. The pure inside the city limit ATL HS bands were okay........not on NO Level in 80-90. Doc would see tapes of them HS in Atlanta and shake his head back in the day.
BTW, JSU had some cats from New Orleans as well back then that could roll. So did TxSU in the mid 80s. They had a slew of New Orleans talent back then. So it wasn't just the Juke. I reference the Juke because we were a top band back then that was full of N.O. talent with nobody in the band from Atlanta. FAMU was primarily Florida HS kids.
The Juke has had more kids come from the ATL and that area since the 90s and the 2000s. We got a bunch now. Back in the 80s........zilch. I don't remember the Boom being full of ATL kids either. Gram or TxSU.
So they all must have went to Bama State, AAMU and Tn State.
PSI Snake where you at Frat.......you and Lovejoy should be able to answer that. Yall almost as old as me. Where there a bunch of you ATLiens in H'ville in the late 80s?
I'am from the ATL and I'll tell you like this ATL bands don't have anything on those bands from N.O. unless your talkin about mid 90's when you had Cedar Grove Southwest Dekalb,Mcnair And Mays highschool on the seen especially Cedar Grove... I had the pleasure of taking on St.Augustine,Kennedy,Reed,Easton and 35 we also got down at the Southern University Botb's in 1998 what a night to remember.
You must be a youngster. Those schools either were 90% white or like Mcnair didn't exist when Snake and I were in highschool.
yea in the 80's. unless you thawt he was talkin bout the 80's then I'll agree with him on Ceder Groove...lil bastids was on it in the mid-late 90s

The thing about the ATL there was a variety of different styles of bands you had some that marched like Su,Famu,Jsu,Mbc,and Tsu

Those schools either were 90% white or like Mcnair didn't exist when Snake and I were in highschool. Mcnair was Walker High in 80's and you said Mays was good. :lmao: That right there tells me you are young. Like I said I don't know anything about Atl bands now because my ear was during the 80's, but back then we were on a different level.
