What are y'all watching? Any good recommendations for DVD purchases or rentals?

What have you seen at the movies lately, that's been really good?
 
Hubby brought home two really, really good movies home this past weekend from Blockbusters.

I strongly recommend Casino Royale (new James Bond movie) and The Prestige (movie set back in late 1800s about two competing magicians who would stop at nothing to learn each other secrets). Both were very good movies.

As far as purchases: I just bought The Pursuit of Happyness and Happy Feet. The Will Smith is good, and I haven't had a chance to look at Happy Feet yet.
 



Happy Feet is very cute...my Mother purchased it for my son, for Easter. We saw it at the movies too. I highly recommend it. :tup:
 
I saw Happy Feet. I liked Prestige, but not as much as I liked The Illusionist. I'm on Blockbuster's online deal so I've been seeing so many movies lately that it's ridiculous. The Departed was pretty good. I saw Babel and it required more reading (subtitles) and thinking than I was in the mood for at the time.

I think I've seen The Illusionist in Blockbuster, but keep passing it up, b/c it didn't seem like anything good. I may have to go ahead and check it out.
 
So far I have rented and purchased:
-Happy Feet
-Casino Royale
-The Departed
-300 (OOPS my bad)...:swink:
 
I like Akeelah And The Bee.

Motives 2 will be coming out this summer on DVD. :cool:


Madagascar is real funny,it's an animated movie but children will not understand it because most of the scenes in the movie are parodies of some of Hollywood's blockbusters. You will be laughing but your little ones will look at you like you crazy.:lol:
 
i would like to see and purchase Blood Diamond and Pursuit of Happiness, i heard they are really really good ones to have in your collection.
 
I bought "The Lask King Of Scotland" last week, and it was easy to see why Forest Whitaker won for best actor. He did a helluva job in a somewhat crappy movie. I also bought "Smoking Aces" haven't seen it yet, but from what I've heard it's pretty good.

For you parents, "Night At The Museum" comes out tomorrow, don't know if I'll be adding that one to the collection, but Denzel's "Deja Vue" comes out tomorrow as well, and that one will be going into the collection, and "Dreamgirls" hits DVD next week, and that one will definitely go into the collection.

Nice...I saw Smoking Aces. It was pretty good and Forest Whitaker was a beast in The Last King....and Kerry Washington...:ebrow:

And I will be purchasing Night at the Museum tomorrow.

Can't wait on those two dvds to hit...thanks for the update, D~. Gotta purchase Denzel's movies, w/his fine ass. :ebrow: I'll pick up Dreamgirls, as well...:tup:

Have yet to see Last King of Scotland...it's always out, when I go to Blockbuster.
 
A movie I thought was pretty cool, but different was Will Ferrell's "Stranger Than Fiction". It's not what you've come to expect from Ferrell, but really interesting, and the spin was tight.

really? I'll have to check that out...sometimes Will Ferrell gets on my nerves...but he's pretty funny, in his comedic roles.

I saw that about a month ago and I liked it. Will Ferrell is everywhere.
