NCCU taking on Human Jukebox

I'm going to say this:

Reid and Clemons - the directors - have a FAMU/FSU/Disney influence. NCCU will play music. There will be plenty of woodwinds and they will be heard. People who know MUSIC will be impressed. NCCU won't be coming after "house"; they will be coming to take out your musical heart...and their auxilaries will be on point. Believe me when I tell you that if FSU selected them to be their representatives in Raleigh, the Sound Machine has the entire package.

Expect them to play marches, classical, old school, and current - and that is just in the 5th.

Man I dont care if the come in playing Mozart's "Fantasia in D Minor"

They still gonna get their azz handed to em!

TO hell with them and YOUR proclamation of them having a "total package".

D@mn this page done got soft over the yrs.. Bring Back the NO Limit Band Board.

I can say this about the NCCU band. I saw them perform twice at the Honda BOTB in '05 and '06. They impressed me in '05, and I thought they weren't as good in '06. Trust me...........if you haven't seen them perform, don't take them lightly. They're pretty good.

Just for comparison..........they would smash Valley, Alcorn, Uapb, and AAMU.

***** you CRAZY as hell... Maybe Valley and Alcorn... definitely dont AAMU and UAPB.

Look......I ain't no "bandhead", so I ain't gonna argue with you people. I didn't say that NCCU is one of the top programs in the country. I didn't say that they are going to be better than SU. All I'm saying is if you haven't seen them, please don't think they some country fools that can't play.

I GAURANTEE that when they leave Mumford, they will have people's respect....believe that.

I was with you until you got to AAMU.:smh: But anyway, the other bands are no where near SU...nevertheless, NCCU will get their arses handed to them on a silver platter!

BTW, doesn't NCCU have a director from JSU? If so, he already knows wassup.

Uneducated??? I'll tell you what I DID SEE. 2005 Honda BOTB, AAMU and NCCU was there. NCCU's performance was twice as good as AAMU's. And anyone who was there knows that was the truth. I don't know if it was a fluke performance or what, but AAMU damn near embarrassed the SWAC that night.

Their Band directors are from FAMU, not JSU dude! Where the hell do ya'll get your information from. I was with Walkwithapanther at both of those Hondas and he is correct about this band. The only problem is no matter what they do, no one is going to give them love in Mumford unless they have a band director from S.U.

Huh Bruh, the dome was quiet as hell when AAMU did their show. I was ashamed that their were from the swac sitting their waiting on PV to rescue us and cursing out SU and JSU for not being on the ballot. Terrible show!

so a show from 2 years ago makes a program better? NCCU band was NOWHERE near that size that year UNTIL Honda... where they recruited people to make it appear they had a large band. Honda was NOTHING big to AAMU... people were tired of marching band and they probably were one of the few bands who DIDNT want to be there.... 05 was AAMUs smallest bands.. (overall not a good year for AAMU)... but NCCU was twice as good as AAMU and AAMU got invited to the Rose Bowl parade in 06? That was a "dream come true for NCCU" so much they had to add ALOT of people to make it actually seem if they had size...bring PV to Huntsville this year and you will see what Im speaking of. Trust me NCCU would not want to see this...

She-it!!! It wouldn't matter if their whole staff is from Southern, a mediocre band will NEVER get house in Mumford. The Jaguar Nation has high expectations, and a lower quality band cannot and will not fullfil that. They might, MIGHT, get some pity claps......

He might be just a little bit ignorant also.:spin:

Just tell us after the game.
and he might not be? :idea: Why don't you just wait and see, since you're so sure the Jukes are going to get blown out in Mumford. I'm sure it's just wishful thinking, on your part though.

I am going to wait just like everyone else. As for getting, blown out, I never said that. You can look at my posts again to verify if you'd like.

If blown out implies getting more "house", then the Jukes will always blow out everyone else in Mumford because the only way to do that is to "out-SU" the Jukes...and that is not reasonably feasible. If blown out means that the evaluation will be done by a musically-sensitive audience that cares about execution and not about public reaction, I don't think that the Jukebox will blow out the Sound Machine.

What I do expect is
  • NCCU will play a broad reportoire of selections;
  • their sound will be clean and round;
  • there will be few (if any) trumpeters playing a octave above the section;
  • their drill will be on point;
  • their auxiliaries will be among the best we'll see.

SU just needs to do what they do best. It should be a fun day.

Who is there to judge how we execute our style? all concert literature I EVER performed came with a summary of sorts, explaining what the composer/arranger is trying to get across or convey.... What particular style and how the particular piece should be executed. According to OUR arrangers, we execute to a T every song, and I'm sure NCCU the same..... So, the only other way to judge is by house.

As long as they execute they CAN get house, because in my opinion, the 1st band has the advantage. They make the all important 1st impression to the crowd at halftime. As long as they look like they know what they're doing, and make it look like they are having fun with high energy, they will get some house, but I've seen them, and they are..... Like I said earlier..... Drier than a mouth full of uncooked grits.

Minimal house is my prediction. Its gonna be a pity party, and the the S is gonna climb back in the stands and finish murdalizing them..... Case closed, cut and dry.

Anyone have any extra speakers and amps to lend out to the "Sound Machine?" I got a feeling this is gonna be a dry one guys.... Like a mouth full of un-cooked grits..... What is a sound machine anyways? Sounds like a generic jukebox...... Maybe its one of those hand crank boxes that the Italian street vendors with the performing monkey use...... "Stepa dis way and watcha me little monkey dance!!!"

Somebody book him on Comic View...
