NCAA Tournament ............ UPSET CITY so far!!

NC Central beat Southern 59-55 up in Wyoming during nonconference play last season. I wouldn't have called that "getting our azz kicked"

Ironically, we got beat down in Ames when we played Iowa State in last season's opener.

But the bottom line is, some of us have this inferiority complex so bad that we can't even fathom being competitive against other non-HBCU schools. That's sickening. We gotta get out of that mindset and change the inferiority culture that permeates throughout the conference and a good portion of the fans
Agreed. I'm glad Coach Banks don't have our guys like that. Some others get on that stage and get scared and i don't know why smh

Of course you wouldn't agree........You're just being you....... :emlaugh: Either way, Central kicked our azz last year and would have this year (like NWST did in football).

Last seasons team didn't even win the regular season title. If Hyder wouldn't have went down, SU wouldn't have lost a conference game. Last years team went as Beltran went. If he had a bad game, so did SU. This years team had way more balance and depth.

i hope the ncaa sanctions dont hurt recruiting

NCCU BEAT NC State. When was the last time a SWAC school beat anyone from a major conference?

Thank you for exposing your knowledge of the game.

What do you mean last time? Texas Southern beat Temple this season. Southern beat ULM and Texas A&M in 2013. Your own school beat Troy in 2013.

The SWAC has more wins vs major division I programs. The MEAC just performs better than the SWAC win it counts in the post season.

Yeah, NCCU beat NC State, but they also played Johnson & Wales, Baber-Scotia and Campbell around that time. Like I said before, the MEAC doesn't have tougher schedules than the SWAC, they have smarter schedule. They play more weak teams to build confidence and wins while they schedule major division I schools here and there.

Troy, ULM and Temple aren't in major conferences.

Texas A&M would qualify.

They are considered major conferences in college basketball only because unlike football, there is only 1 division of division I.

And how can you dismiss Temple anyway? You do know they are in the same conference as Louisville, Memphis, UCONN and Cincy right?

So the AAC with UCONN, Louisville, Memphis, and SMU isn't considered a major conference?

I'm convinced sometimes he is contrary just to be contrary.

Like someone said before, the SWAC has got some big OOC wins against major conference schools (including TSU this year against Temple. You think ESPN would be doing break ins if Temple wasn't a power school?) but we don't schedule as smart as the MEAC does. 25-8 looks better than 20-12.

None of them are BCS conference schools. Some might be elite basketball schools, though. SMU has never been consider a major college basketball school.

The way conferences have realigned has scewed that. But we should know who the basketball powers are. That never changes regardless of conference affiliation.

Troy and ULM are in the Sun Belt. That's not a major conference in any sport,

??????

UCONN and Louisville have both played in BCS bowl games within the past few seasons. Louisville is the defending national champion in basketball, and UCONN won a men's title just a few years ago. Memphis has been legit for a while too in basketball. Oh and Cincy is also in that conference.

Like I said, there is a difference in being major basketball programs and being in a major conference.

Just stop. The AAC has 4 teams in the tournament field. 3 of which have made National Title game appearances within the past 10 years. 2 of them winning at least 1 title. The AAC is a major basketball conference. Folks just have to get use to the new name and teams. They'll lose the high profile name of Louisville, but they are far from a mid-major conference.

As much as people have ragged on the SEC, they have a legit chance at having all 3 teams make the Sweet 16.

Before there was "Big House Gaines", there was Coach John McLendon at North Carolina College for ******s now North Carolina Central University (NCCU). The man who revolutionized the game by introducing the up tempo style of basketball. Coach Ben Jobe admired his style of play and brought it to Southern University. Coach Jobe was able to build a team at SU that took down the ACC tournament champion Georgia Tech in the 1993 NCAA Tourney. Georgia Tech was completely outgunned by SU.

Like you stated before, some folks need to watch ESPN's two part series "Black Magic". It seems like there are a few on here that lack the knowledge of knowing the history of basketball, especially when it became an integrated sport. I downloaded a copy of it to my external hard drive.

The two teams in the SWAC that have some of the richest basketball history are SU and Grambling, which was due to the competitive play of Willis Reed (GSU) and Robert (Bob) Earl "Butterbean" Love (SU).

Yeah, I'm aware, agree and have Black Magic on tape........Awesome history lesson.

Yeah. If Kentucky plays like they did in the SEC title game, WSU will finish the season 35-1. Tennessee is as good a defensive team as any in the tourney and on a roll. FLA is waiting on them already in the Sweet 16

????? That was a good, closely-contested game. They definitely wouldn't have lost like our football team did against Northwestern State.

I know........Just messing with SUjagTilIdie.......knew he wouldn't like that. :emlaugh:

I see you beat me to it. You can't dismiss Temple (unless you don't know college basketball).
