NCAA Tournament First Four Preview: Texas Southern vs Cal Poly


Murray got more than his own on the scoring end but to not even have 5 rebounds is just not good (plus his team mates didn't show and were tentative in shooting the outside shot).

Plus as others have said their defense was poor...

tSU didn't play defense all season. Even in the game they won at SU, SU had plenty of open looks. SU shot just wouldn't fall that night.

This guy started pressing with 1 minute left in the game. :lol: :emlaugh: Then prior to that they were (TSU) down and passing the ball around so many times until I thought they were milking the clock for the other team......That was some horrible ish if you ask me.....

I agree. There was no sense of urgency. And no fire or energy. Even Davis was mostly reserved.

Again SU championship was the regular season! There's no question who the beast team in this conference was. Just an embarrassment for our confenrence. If this conference want to get respect we can't have poor performances like that.

Cal Poly won their Tourney (I saw the end of their game). I could be wrong but don't believe they won the regular season championship.

We had mofos on here talking about sTu could beat Wichita State.
 
I can tell that many of you only look at final scores of SWAC play. TSU played today the same way they have played all season long. The ONLY difference I saw was that they took a couple fewer threes than I am used to seeing. TSU has not been a strong defensive team ALL YEAR. The offense has looked hesitant ALL YEAR. They pass the ball around ALL YEAR. You don't change your spots as a team at the end of the year.

Like I said earlier, what hurt TSU the MOST was the turnovers and lack of defense in a stretch of about 6-8 minutes in the first half when Murray first went to the bench. TSU played like the team that they were, and that stretch honestly cost them the game, because even as ugly as it was the rest of the game, they played with Cal Poly.
 
Don't see how THIS was an embarrassment to our conference, when we allowed FOUR ineligible teams to compete in our conference tourney, only one year after an ineligible team who WON THE REGULAR SEASON (sound familiar) was NOT allowed to play in the tournament. (Before the usual suspects say something, yes I know the reasoning was different, but the result was the same)

Looked like to me the old colored team with the race horses that would loose to the less physically talented team because they just played a smarter ball game.

It's time to INTEGRATE swac sports. The swac will never be competitive until it goes after the best available players not just the best available black players.

I am embarrassed for the showing TSU made and I apologize to you all. TSU seemed to have no idea of time in the second half. That was a poor showing from coach on down.

I guess I am in the minority by saying I wasn't to upset with the TSU offensive production (minus the silly turnovers). The offense produced what was needed. But as the announcers said, they did not play defense, and THAT is what cost them this game...That big run by Cal Poly mid first half....and then every time the offense would try to pull TSU back into it, they could not stop Cal Poly from scoring.

All in all good season for the Tigers, and a decent showing on the national stage. I'm more embarrassed by some of the commentary I am reading here than the game I saw today.

Integration of Cal Poly helped them win 13 games this year.
 
I think the game was loss at the start. Ray penn is hurt. Gibbs had started all of SWAC play and has been the catalyst during the 10 game winning streak. He increases the tempo and with the exception of Murray this fit the players on this team. In the second half for a long stretch we gad no one in the game that could score. I am embarrassed.
 
its hard to beat 57% shooting... TSU started the 2nd half pressing but Cal Poly was hot.. what hurt TSU is not pulling up and running the offense, down 8 on a fast break the guard pressed it instead of pulling back.. in that happen several times...
 
I'm more upset than embarrassed, because we constantly let these sucka ass teams off the hook. They were 13-19, and were made to look great. It almost made me as mad as that chokejob we had a couple years ago against bummy Western Kentucky.

That's what I'm talking about the swac has to get smarter players, better coaches, or both. We looked out classed by this team and that is embarrassing because they are nobody. TSU just had their butt kicked by a less physically talented team.
