After wrapping up their first SWAC championship since 2003, Texas Southern has its sights set on a date in the First Four round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers (19-14) will play Big West champion Cal Poly (13-19) Wednesday in Dayton, Ohio.

TSU, winners of their last nine, are led by SWAC Player of the Year Aaric Murray who scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Tigers 78-73 win over Prairie View in the SWAC championship on Saturday.

“I think I owed it to them,â€￾ Murray said after the game. “I was riding them the last six or seven games when I couldn’t score and teams were triple-and-doubling me. I would kick the ball to them and they would make plays.â€￾

The win also was a significant one for head coach Mike Davis, who has now led three different schools to the NCAA Tournament during his career.

TSU is not going to win this game if others do not get involve. this dude was right under the goal and passed the ball backwards to Murray that resulted in a turnover. Murray can't do everything.

Honest embarrassment to the SWAC! If only the best team in our conference was in this tournament. This Texas Southern team plays horrible defense and the offensive side of the ball is putrid

I warned about these slow start the other day. TSU can come back but though......They need to play better defense. I don't see the killer instinct right now.

The so- called best team in the SWAC lost by double-digits to a 22-loss team. Save it.

Sorry, but the "best team" was 1) ineligible for postseason and 2) lost to Prairie View in the SWAC Tournament

C'mon TSU...y'all letting these boys get into the lane at will. Make some damned stops!!!!!

Mike Davis is a good coach, but those kids just aren't playing any defense. If they are gone win, Murray is gone have to go Danny Manning on these cats.

I was with you until the end. Lots of time left, they just have to pick up the intensity like they have these last few possessions. The interior defense has been suspect all year. Let's leave the sour grapes out because "our" teams aren't there and root for the SWAC. Remember, the best team in the SWAC last year wasn't the one that went to the NCAA tourney either...
