On hiring former NFL coaches, it would be wise of all administrations to consider the time period the candidate's career was in. Not to discriminate, but for prudence sake.
Some of us have been around long enough to remember when you got a concussion you were told something like, "Son you just got your bell rung, go ahead back out there and play." During those days you had to be seriously concussed, nearly knocked unconscious to be taken out of a game. At times you got back to the sideline feeling dazed after making a hard hit and all you heard from a coach was, " Good hit son, way to let them hang."
Concussion protocol and CTE were not even part of the vocabulary back then. Just something to consider, especially if the candidate had a long career.
