And out of that "old guard," only Prairie View remains. Remember the major conference realignment of the SWAC came when the private schools could not afford to compete with the state schools post World War II. So even in our conference's history, money talks and BS walks.

Each member has to think about what's best for their respective institution — whether that means pushing to realign the SWAC or leaving the SWAC.

I'm really looking at dudes on here and Facebook brag as if ESPN3 is better than ESPN2/U. Yeah I know more people are heading towards streaming so it is a viable option BUT right now it's not better

Hell most SWAC schools were on ESPN3 at least once last year anyway and I could see us eventually have weekly games on ESPN3/ESPN+ PLUS have the TV games and in most schools cases stream most of their home games

But, I think he has some good points. Particularly about the tendency to settle for mediocrity to be among ”peers” or ”friends”. And the piss poor ”leadership” of Duer Sharp.

I don't think you can fault any person or institution for wanting better for themselves.

I think it's true that many see the Bama schools as the step-children of the SWAC and few would give a damn if they left.

However, 2kool could very well be right in that they could be better off. Seeking to thrive for themselves rather than trying to get along with those who are comfortable with just getting by.

I want to see the SWAC flourish and become a national nightmare for opponents. Not ourselves. But if other schools are content and have leaders who are content with not living up to our potential, politicking behind the scenes to sway COPAC votes toward certain regressive outcomes, to hell with em. When AAMU joined the SWAC, Houston, Baton Rouge, Jackson, and Montgomery had larger populations than did Huntsville. After joining the SWAC, AAMU found itself playing against tougher competition. and consequently, could not replicate, as one might expect, the successes it enjoyed as a D 2 powerhouse.
 
Nobody in the SWAC holds unbroken 10 to 20 year long NATIONAL D1 NCAA basketball records but Alabama A&M. And we started that within TWO years of joining the SWAC. LMAO!
