NBA West - Spurs vs Lakers

What, you were going to write a nasty letter to David Stern or something? By the way... Jerry West never won the MVP during his career. That is a travesty.

WHO CARES....JUST CELEBRATE WITH ALL LAKER FANS AFTER THEY DETHRONED THE SPURS!!! KINDA REMINDS ME OF WHAT JSU DID TO AAMU BEFORE THEY WENT ON TO WIN IT ALL!!!:happydance::happydance:
:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

I find it awfully weird that the two of the most dsyfunctional franchises the last few years are on the brink of playing in the Finals and folks are about to explode with excitement. One team basically threw the second-half of the season last year.

The superstar player out west bashed his teammates, management and demanded a trade to the Midwest during the offseason.

I thought ya'll were tired of the Boston championships reigns and the L.A. ho hum attitude about sports. Frankly, my level of excitement would have been the same no matter who was playing the championship round.

I'm not a Laker fan. I'm a Bulls fan. My poor misguided mother is a Laker fan for some odd reason though. I guess it was because she graduated from MVSU or something. You tend to lose it after spending short period of time in Itta Bena.

My brother do NOT like the Lakers for nothing. I didn't watch the game because I was busy and he came in the room saying the Lakers are getting their a** kicked and I went to sleep. I woke up and it was the 4th Q and we were winning and we won the game and he was mad.  He think the Celtics scare us. That's who he like more then anybody, and sometimes the Hornets.

Well you can thank Kevin McHale for helping Boston out..his old team with trading Garnett. I still think Jerry West even though out as the GM of Memphis helped orchestrate the Gasol trade with LA for basically nothing.

Even though I hate the Celtics as an organization and Boston as a city.....I hope KG gets a shot at the title..... I am not a Lakers or Kobe fan either........but this years Laker team deserves to be in the Finals and I rather see them play Boston than Detroit. I like San Antonio and their organization but they need an overhaul in certain areas. Namely getting rid of Finley, Horry, and maybe making Bowen play off the bench. Clearing out that old bench as well.

So bring on the ole Celtics vs Lakers rivalry. It is good for the NBA.

If I had to "root" for one team to win the title it would be the Bulls. However, that is not going to happen in 2008. I would love seeing KG get a ring though. That man carried the Minnesota franchise basically by himself for many years...Much like Peyton Manning did before he won the Super Bowl, KG was ripped up by the media for not being able to get over the hump... Only one win away....one win away.

I'll respond to you since you don't have a Kobe poster in your bathroom...

Have it ever dawn on you that Bowen was playing dayum good defense against Kobe...
Lakers are the ones in trouble.Spurs built up a lead like that in an AWAY game....

Where he at??!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

His own words condemned him without a peep from me.:lmao::lmao:

You know what....Kobe has become THAT GUY.

I have always said that as long as the Colts have Manning and the Pats have Brady the other team is screwed. It is the same with Kobe now...As long as Kobe plays for the Lakers the other teams are screwed. He's the best player in the game right now.

It was the same way with Jordan and Bird. When those two guys were playing it was almost a done deal the Bulls and Boston were going to win. I get the same feeling about Kobe.

He is at the point where he can take over when he wants to and not force shots. That is what made West, Magic, Jordan, Duncan, Shaq and Bird so great. And that is why I have come to respect Kobe just a little bit this season. He finally gets it.

It's like when Neo finally realized he was "The One" in the Matrix and kicks butt the final 25 minutes of the movie.

However, the Lakers better win the title this season because the Portland Trailblazers are lurking. That team will give L.A. fits the next few years.

Looks like the league got half of what they wanted.

Hey Jax man your picks have been going bad the last few years..LOL

But the Spurs had all the chances in the world. They was even getting calls in LA and still couldn't win. I mean I was so sick in the first half that I left out the house. Not because we were losing but because the game was being called so one sided. Pau grabs a rebound under the goal. He goes up and Duncan flops inside the circle and gets the charge..LOL

Kobe was driving to the hole getting contact no calls but the Spurs were getting those calls.

And get this if the Lakers win it all they are so young no team really will matter. yes the other teams are getting better but LA has a nuclear weapon(thanks Charles) that they can unleash when all else fells..LOL

The Blazers will be nice but they too young, the Jazz need a true center so Boozer can play his natural position, the Spurs are old, and the Hornets will need a few peices too. Boston better win this year cause Ray allen and Paul aint getting no younger.

The Lakers better win it this year, because this might be their last chance. If Greg Oden can walk and play basketball, America is in trouble...America is in trouble. That team is loaded with talent with Roy and Aldridge. Even more than the Lakers and Hornets.

Plus, the Blazers have a lottery pick in the 2008 draft. The Lakers better win while they can because if Oden plays like he did at Ohio State, it will take an act of God to stop the Blazers from winning a championship in the future.

Kendrick all the talent in the world does not gaurantee a victory. The Blazers have to learn how to play as a team. Make it to and win a playoff series. then and only then will they be a threat. The Lakers have one person over 30 and they are all getting playoff experience. Bynum is 20 and he's better than Oden right now..

Oh yeah did you say Ohio State..LOL. See Mike Conoley JR...SMH.

Maybe I was a little over the top with my statement, but Greg Oden dominated in his only one year of college. Even though that does not always equate to success in the NBA, it is hard not to believe he was not going to be a solid NBA player. I was convinced after the NCAA title game against Florida when Oden dominated the Gators frontline. He made Al Horford and Noah look like high school kids. And those cats were high first-round picks.

Bynum is only better than Oden now because he has more experience. We don't know if he will play the same way after the knee injury. Remember, he was targeted to be ready for the playoffs after the injury. He has not played yet. So we don't know about him either.

Yeah, I meant Ohio State. See Jerry Lucas, Michael Redd and Jim Jackson.

Bynum had regular athroscopic knee surgurey. He didn't have micro frature so he will return in good health. He is being schooled by the third greatest center ever. My list is Russell,Wilt,Kareem and then Shaq.
Lamar Odom said it best last night. Everybody around him has a ring down to the trainers and towel boys. Multiple rings at that. It starts to rub off..

Jim Jackson. The Same Jim Jackson we got shipped out of Sacremento..LOL

Michael Redd has led Milwaukee to how many playoff victories. Not championships just playoff victories. Jerry Lucus the drunk and drug addited coach?

Michael Redd is one of the most underrated players in the league. I'll take that cat ever day of the week and twice on Sunday. Even Kobe Bryant said Redd is one of the best shooters he has ever seen.

 Like you get em right all the dayum time.
And a few years? That's a stretch.

With respect to the Spurs....it was only a matter of time before they got dethrowned. They have nothing else to prove. The Gasol trade helped LA out alot. IMHO...I thought the Hornets had the better shot of beating SA...but they were too young and inexperienced.

Besides...this was the only time I picked against the Lakers and they actually won. (I picked Boston to come out of the East.)

Either way it goes, like delock said, the league is rigged. I mean, NBA Finals ratings have been low since 2004, prolly before that. Now, you have one of the NBA's most storied rivalaries on the brink of the finals...LA, who took care of the West and Boston, who might wrap up the East tonight.

What evidence do you have that the league is rigged other than your personal opinion? I already know......NONE!!
