NBA doesn't have a hall of fame....the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass., is the HOF for all aspects of basketball —*college, pro, international, women, coaches and contributors to the game.

Lead-pipe locks as players/coaches: Shaquille O'Neal, Alonzo Mourning, Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Tony Parker, Yao Ming (impact on the game globally), Greg Popovich, Jerry Sloan, Rick Adelman...maybe even George Karl

Not lead-pipe locks, but will be there when its said and done: Chris Paul, Dirk Nowitski, Antawn Jamison (counting college), Vince Carter (counting college), Gary Payton, Chauncey Billups (will move up to lead-pipe status as more people appreciate his last 5 years in the league), Ray Allen (counting college), Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson (obvious reasons), Dwayne Wade (counting college), Pau Gasol (counting int'l ball), Dwight Howard (pending how well his offensive game comes along to match his defense and barring injury)

If you want to see who's in the HOF now... go to http://www.hoophall.com/halloffamers/bhof-halloffamers-category.html#players

subject to change, but right now, I would also add Gasol, Stoudamire, Bosh to the no column

Carmelo, Paul, Rose, Deron Wms are too young to be in the discussion

WOW!! So saying Gasol is a future HOFer isn't so :retard: after all....

Oh well, I'm right again...
:)

Nope...not when you factor in Gasol's international play. I'm surprised that Oscar Schmidt, the Brazilian dude that could jack it back in the day, isn't in the HOF along with Arvydas Sabonis that played with Portland. Sabonis was probably the best player in the world when he led the Soviets to the gold in 1988, but politics at the time wouldn't allow him to come to the NBA until he was on his decline. Also, what about Andrew Gaze from Australia.

Gasol hasn't ever played GREAT and is considered about the 7th best PF in the Game and if he's at the C spot then maybe not top five in that position either.
Just come out and say that you disagree with the Jayrob dude's other post Cause I sure in the hell disagree. Dude be lusting over Kobe more than Mark Jackson does during the broadcast.
But don't bring down the knowledge of the Jaguar Nation by trying to justify your disagreements with him by putting Gasol in the HOF. That goes for Oden too and Ron Artest needs to win at least 2 rings to be mentioned for consideration. The Palace is also his Waterloo.

I totally disagree with that dumb thread...
When it come to international players they do get special consideration... And Gasol impact on that Laker team will looked at in higher regard rather than if it was just another PF filling in that spot getting the same thing accomplished..

I'm not giving him nor yao or anybody else no special consideration, because they have an opportunity to prove it on the court and when you look Gasol, you can't tell me that the lakers wouldn't love to have a guy like Boozer or Bosh or maybe even Al Hofford or David West. Even Dirk has a better offensive package, but I don't give him a past either because he's a 7 foot jump shooter.

As far as that other thread goes... well you know that's coming from the SWACPAGE Kobe Bryant fan club president.

Kobe won't be no more greater if he wins than he already was. I'm a Rocket and it's damn hard to cheer or give props to anybody else, but i'm a realist first. Kobe is the best player (that's right ahead of lebron) on one of the best teams in the league IMO. Although they have obvious flaws, just as any other team in the league, IF he wins it won't mean that he's much greater now than MJ or any other great. If MJ is the greatest ever then who is considered to be 2, 3, 4 and 5, and is Kobe to be considered better than them IF he wins it all this year. IF he doesn't win does that take away from his greatness. That's what is :retard:

That chump Kobe history is already written..win or lose....Only way he would have elavated his status is if he would have been able to take anyone of them teams he cried about further than the 1st round in the play-offs...

Like someone else said...Pippen did better than that with out Mike...

I seriously doubt LA is interested in letting Gasol go for any of them guys... I love my Hornets but we need to let D.West go and get something in return for him... Him, Peja stojakovic and Chandler..IMO

You can't leave out the women:

Candace Parker
Diana Taurasi
Sue Bird
Lauren Jackson
Lisa Leslie
Cynthia Cooper
Tina Thompson
Sheryl Swoopes
Maya Moore

This is why Gasol is not a HOFer (yet). If those guys didn;t make it based on their international play, why would Gasol?

Yall are very generous with this list. There are 135 players in the hall including women and international.... and he named damn near 40 more who are currently playing. No way in hell.

Your locks are Kobe, Shaq, Garnett, Kidd, Iverson, Duncan, LeBron, Payton. Next possible are Wade (probable), Nash, Nowitski, Mourning, Pierce, Allen....

Until she makes it, none on the list even have a remote chance.

For the women...the members of the old USC machine of the 80s that aren't in yet will get in before anyone else.

Check the list...Cheryl Miller was inducted in 1995, and so far she's the only person from the old USC machine that's in as of now. So Coop and Tina Thompson will get in eventually.

Candace Parker will NOT get inducted ahead of key players of either of the first two UConn team that went undefeated--namely Rebecca Lobo or Diana Tuarasi. Hell, Seimone Augustus would probably get in before Parker.

Hell, I wonder what prep basketball coach would get in next? Bob Hurley's dad from St. Anthony's in New Jersey? Joel Hawkins at Southern Lab

J4L I believe folk is speaking on future... If those players keep at the pace they are going it is very possible a lot of those folks will end up in the HOF ...IMO

You said they are not in the HOF "now"... none of those folks are in the HOF now.....Now those you pointed out can end their careers right now and end up in the HOF.. but the others are folks opinion as future HOFers...

I'm speaking of future also. Rationally thinking, if there are only 135 players in the HOF total from its existence, how many can one RATIONALLY think will go into the hall from this (or any) era?

It's just a list dude.. It's hard for ANY of us to say which ones on there FOR SURE will be in or WANT MAKE IT... Do you agree with that?
