Both these teams are jump shooting teams (the 4 stars) so that could go either way. Garnett shot and made a ton 10-15' of jumpers before he missed like 9 in a row after that. Allen and Pierce were hot last night from the perimeter also.

Allen and Pierce played their typical game, wasn't all that great like what they are fully capable of but we both know Kobe thrives off of driving to the whole, thats a big part of his success, attacking the goal... Celtics really not allowing him to do that too much

The difference is the Celtics can put KG in the post and force LA to double. LA really doesn't have that type of luxury, unless they are gonna run Kobe to the post.

When did KG play in the post last night? It was not very often at all. He faced up Gasol more last night than playing him in the post.

KG should play the post more.. but he usually doesn't he would be a lot more dominate if he did... especially against these Euro boys on this Laker team

He didn't play in the 3 feet from the hoop post like Shaq, but he had his back to the basket when he caught the ball (especially in the first quarter). KG's post area extends out further than the average big man. And LA had to double. They wanted to do like they did to Duncan, wait for a few dribbles to double, but that didn't work. KG is quicker AFTER he faces up than Duncan. Gasol will have problems all series.

KG is more talented than Duncan overall but he does not use it as well as Duncan does. If you are that far from the basket you are not in the low post.

Never said 'low' post. More like 'mid' post (8-12 feet from the rim). From there, Gasol can't handle KG, so LA will have to double.

All though that high post is a lower percentage shot, you have to admit KG often makes those shots.. I really do want him to get down lower... but he knows his game and limits and what effective for him.. I and many think he would be even more effective lower in the post..

Just say "on side of the basket" then. LOL

I guess you could call it the "high post" but I think that is not as advantageous to Boston as it could be. He's playing like Chris Webber used to play with all those jumpers. If he goes on a long drought again there could be trouble.

When has KG ever gone on a LONG drought?
KG knows how to get his baskets when all else fails...

This is known... There are adjustments Boston can make to exploit Gasol even more.....

All these coaches on here, someone needs to apply for a coaching job in the NBA, NFL, NCAA.....:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

KG does not play the classic low post like Duncan because he doesn't have Duncan's frame. KG is still a slim guy.......just more muscular than he was when he was younger. McHale told him to preserve your career you are going to have to learn to shoot the ball from the perimeter some to make them stay honest and not have your body take a beating. KG still needs to go the basket a little more especially when going against folks who can't guard him down low. Saw some flashes of it yesterday.......but with Kendrick Perkins getting better and he being a low post guy, I think KG game will probably stay a little farther out than the traditional low post. Duncan game is built for it. I remember when he first got to San Antonio it allowed Big Dave to play the high post and shoot those left hand jumpers. There are few traditional low post players in the NBA. Most who do......is because they too heavy and slow or have no shot. Dwight Howard is a true low post guy. Let him develop a jump shot and he will move farther out too. I guess it is just the way the game is now. All these 6'11 and 7 footers want to be Small Forwards. LOL.

KG should still catch the ball in that 'mid-post' area, but rather than ALWAYS take the jumper, he should drive more. LA has no one under the hoop that can do anything once KG gets there...

McHale.. now that I remember McHale used to play like that as well... , Kg can go in more.. especially against this Laker team.. I think once he watch some film he may realize that...

It will be on his coach to change the offense.

I agree. Did you see that move in the first half when got to basket for the dunk. That's what KG should do. He should get mean and just punk Gasol straight up. We have seen him play that way up here with the Wolves before that shot developed. He would always go the hole and dunk on fools. Folks started saying you have to be able to take over a game.......and for some reason players automatically think that mean you have to be able to shoot jumpers. Especially the big men. I remember when James Worthy would high rise on your arse and fill the lane....go to the basket.... after he got a little older he started shooting jumpers farther and farther out. He went from a Power forward when he first came to LA and Wilkes was SF.........to a SF and then Rambis played PF. Total transformation. To me he was the first PF to start exhibiting SF skills........now since most of the Euro players are like that. That is what you see. The traditional power forward retired when Karl Malone left and even he started playing the high post alot more. Duncan is the last of the Mohicans.

Is it me or does the Celtics look like the Lakers of old and the Lakers look like the Celtics of old? Lakers had an all brothers team back in the day and the Celtics had an all white team with the exception of 3 or 4 black guys. I found myself rooting for the Celtics last night even though I used to hate them! The Lakers just don't seem like a good team right now, I can't put my finger on what it is tho.

If I'm coaching, I tell my guy to make him put it on the floor and force him to have to finish and not kick it out. Stay on the perimeter shooters and box out Gasol and Odom... make Kobe the old Kobe. Might as well make him work to get his cuz you really can't stop him...too much individual talent. But don't leave those guys like Fisher and Vujavic and Radmonovich open for those killer threes.

Garnett should own Gasol and Odom... Paul Pierce will dominate anyone other than Kobe and Ray Allen is too good for either of the Euro's or Walton to guard.

MB, you alright with me bruh, but it's quite obvious that your strength is not basketball.

:lmao::lmao:

It's just not in him to do that.

I think he has it in him......just has to be coached more. KG has had some soft arse coaches.......Flip Saunders and now Doc Rivers. Good guys but not kind of coaches that demand. Imagine if Jerry Sloan (who I think is one of the best NBA coaches even though I don't like Utah) was coaching this Celtic team.......it would curtains for LA quickly. He would have Perkins, KG, PJ Brown, Powe......Big Baby(would be in better shape) just totally crushing folks on the board. If there is a weakness with Boston besides Rondo at point it is the coaching staff. Imagine Phil with the Celtics.......they would be the Bulls all over again. Physical as a mofo. imposing their will. That is the only way the Celtics will continue to win in this series. We all know Kobe is going to have one or two just monster games. So KG better get that killer instinct.

That's a pretty good point at the top. As talented as Tim Duncan is, he wouldn't be nearly the player he became without a hard driving coach like Popavich constantly pushing him to dominate. But as far as having killer instinct, I just don't think KG is wired that way. I think killer instinct comes from a combination of "genetics" and getting repitition in those situations. For a player with his intensity, in his career he has shrunk from the pressure far more than he's rose to the occasion. Then again, that may just be the issue right there, KG is constantly playing at maximum intensity so there's no greater level for him to go to. And I agree having horrible coaches and playing on inferior teams most of his career hurt that development. But whatever the reason, it's obvious the pressure gets to him, you can see it in his demeanor and in the rookie level mistakes he makes in crunch time. He just doesn't have that mythical "switch", the one that tells a great player he needs to put up 40 tonight for his team to win. It's what separates Kobe from someone like Vince Carter, or Duncan from somebody like Rasheed Wallace.
