Look, SWAC basketball is bad....that's why Valley was able to play that style. Even if Valley had sped up it the game still would not have been close.

*DING* *DING* *DING!!!!!*

Damn. 29 WHOLE points. lol :emlaugh: I'm not laughing @ Valley. I'm laughing @ the rest of you who are STUCK in 1991. :retard: Sh*t, it's 2008. We STINK (collectively).

Collectively?! Speak for your own team. In my mind this loss is on Valley and Valley alone.

Let's be real folks (thanks Panthro), this has to be the worst showing by any SWAC school in NCAA history. Sh*t!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the first time that I actually WISHED we would have been put in the play-in game. :smh:

You a damn fool...JSU wouldn't have done a better job period...They Suck this year and you know it!!!! Well it's over now!! We lost and we can bring it on back to the Valley and prepare for next season lol!!!

I'm still trying to figure out why they only scored 29pts.... somebody need to help me understand. Regardless if valley is sorry or not, you're the swac champs and you couldnt score atleast 50pts? I must say that it was hard for me to watch that game. I just knew it was only going to get better (after I saw an exciting bama st game... and after i listened to a interesting game from the lady panthers of pv)

avrg 14.5 pts each half?

The hell JSU wouldn't have. I know we would've scored more than 30 points. I'm talking about 30 points. In case you didn't know it, but you guys set a dayum record for futility.....29 points.
Panthro was right for cryin out loud.:smh:

Oh, by the way, we'll save this loss for smack fodder at a later date. We know you're hurting right now.

this loss is on valley. hold up! yall have forgotten huh. hop in my time machine and I'll set the date for nov 24, 2007. earlier this season valley actually scored 26 points in a 71-26 loss to washington state. that didn't happen to anyone else in the swac, but it happen to valley 2x and I'm not trying to count how many times they didn't break 48. but we'll see. southern's got a nice pt guard coming in and bama state is stock piling players like nukes in a silo. grambling new facility should help them recruit and if tsu can ever get it together with texas talent at their door step.

Exactly!!

You have to understand that the WORST kid on the UCLA bench is 10x better than the BEST KID in the SWAC, not just Valley. In fact, the WORST KID on the UCLA bench WORST OFFERS were better than 99% of the kid's BEST OFFERS in the SWAC.

Now, add better coaching, better nutrition, better workouts, better this, better that, and you would UNDERSTAND why Valley took a BEATDOWN.

But Sperm, back in 1991 SU beat "mighty" georgia tech in the tourney. But Sperm, we used to get ALLLLLLLLLLL the talent there was back in 1986. But Sperm, we used to get ALLLLLLLLLLL the talent back in 1942.

We're getting drug UP and down the court and our OOC records vs Div I(plural for ALL of us) TESTIFIES to this and these damned people wanna' LIVE 1991 like it's 2008. :retard: Double-damned ditto for our football squads.

Wanna' know where the SWAC stands, compare our records vs EVERYTHING that is going on w/ neighboring FCSer southland conference. THEY OWN US IN EVERYTHING. BAR NONE. Argue that fact. :retard:

I'm not happy about this. But I'm even unhappier when I see nothing being done about it. :retard: A bunch of wasted scholarships. We are what we attract. :read: At LEAST be competitive, sh*t. :shame:

Valley doesn't have the type of players to run Jobe's or the old SWAC style. The thing is we still can get those players, but our administration(SU atleast) wants to play "white folks ball", and none of our fans are interested in seeing that shat, thus the poor attendence. You don't need super stars or great shooters. All you need is quick players. I want shoot that thing every 8 seconds back.

I remember the SU teams under Carl Stewart. He let (actually molded) the players' talents help his teams win. BTW in addition to quick players, Stewart had some great shooters too.

Why wait to shoot the ball at 25 seconds when one can shoot the ball at 10-12?

Then again a coach needs players to win.

In 1986 Valley led Duke, the tournament's overall number one seed, by three at the half. From what I heard Coach K turned Johnny Dawkins loose they Valley lost by seven. Despite losing the game, Valley got a lot of respect for how they played.

Even though SWAC schools would get whipped by the big schools during the '80s, they could still on occasion be competitive with a big school.

I am with you. At least be competitive.

Exactly, at least be competitive. Last year, JSU lost to Florida, but at least they played them almost equal until the second half where they were just worn down. Valley's players had that "deer-in-the-headlight" look the WHOLE game. No one seemed to want to step up.
29 points....?! Sheesh!!

Uh P that was 1993. But in case your forgot TxSU was a free throw made from upsetting Arkansas and their number 1 arses in the tourney a few years later. Not to mention SU played Duke well just 2 years ago in the tourney. Even gave LSU the blueprint to eventually beat Duke a game later. So don't act the SWAC has not been competative in the tourney since 91 or so. No way any of our schools should get beat like that. Even Belmont played Duke to the very end. I am sure Belmont facilities, coaches, players and such are on Duke's level with their All-American HS team coach K is fielding over there. Not that Valley should have won............but they could have played better than that. Hell the number 1 HS team in the country could score 30 against UCLA. Aint like they are the Lakers, Celtics or Pistons or somebody. Damn......
Bama State would have not been beaten like that.

We got to have some pride. Just like Cookman and SU did against USC and UCLA in baseball. I am sure their facilities and such are much better than Cookman and SU's put together.

JR, quick question and anyone can answer. Why do you HBCU grads speak/live in the past tense so much? lol Can you guys speak "present" tense as in recent history? lol

Being dismantled in EVERY sport (currently) and live/speak in the past. :retard: That's not very smart. lol

The problem is toughness. lol Some schools play like they are SCARED. At least I know that we competed to the very end and that the game could have gone either way but as far as Valley last night, the only thing that could have went either way was the LOST MARGIN.

I dunno guys.... Last night's loss can be defined on many levels... And while Valley was the 'team' that loss, the loss isn't solely on them (like some of you seem to suggest)...

In fact, the way I saw it, there was no way Valley was going to even be competitve against UCLA. And few other SWAC teams wouldn't have done that much better.

The 'grand canyon' that exists in athletic funding, when you compare a UCLA to a Valley is hard to fathom. It's truly David versus Goliath. The facilities, the conditioning, the recruiting, the coaches, everything is beyond compare.

I'm proud of the fact the kids didn't quit. They just couldn't compete with a bigger, stronger, better conditioned team....

The athletic product we put on the court is DIRECTLY RELATED to the money we spend on that program.....

We get what we pay for.

The 'onus' is on US to improve our facilities, coaches and programs (in that order). Can't blame UCLA for being what they are....

They're BETTER.....

Uh Belmont is the present. 2006 is only 2 years ago. JSU battled Florida last season. We can be competative in baseball PRESENTLY against the white boys who have more than we do but can't stay within 20 points of UCLA? Come on bruh. What makes us so different than a Belmont? You don't need facilities to be able to play basketball as much as you do in football. Valley's PG was the fastest kid on the floor last night. Practice and more practice. Better coaching is the key.......

Exactly. It is called having pride. Belmont had that against Duke last night.
