does valley have any support there with them? (cheerleaders/pep-band?)
Damn cheerleaders and pep band. Valley needs the FEMA.

And getting the rebounds. SU shot 29% vs GT but killed them on the boards. By the 2nd half, GT's bigs were dead tired from all the running SU did them.Everyone knows UCLA has more talent and SWAC teams can't shoot from outside, that's why they need to run and stay out of the half court game. They have a better chance running than jacking up 3-pointers.

But they kill me, slowing the game down, letting teams set their defense up, when you don't have great shooters :retard: .
If Valley tries to run, that does not work either because the move would playing right into the hands of UCLA. They have too many great athletes for Valley to use that game-plan. And because Valley does not shoot well from the outside, would create easy fastbreak chances for the Bruins. When you are playing a great team, you have to slow the game to limit their possesions on the offensive end.
Valley doesn't have the type of players to run Jobe's or the old SWAC style. The thing is we still can get those players, but our administration(SU atleast) wants to play "white folks ball", and none of our fans are interested in seeing that shat, thus the poor attendence. You don't need super stars or great shooters. All you need is quick players. I want shoot that thing every 8 seconds back.If Valley tries to run, that does not work either because the move would playing right into the hands of UCLA. We can agree to disagree on that, but down 40-16 at halftime does Valley really have anything to lose trying to push the ball. At least go out saying I tried to throw everything at them but the kitchen sink.

That white folk ball is helping UCLA add to a 25-point lead and almost helped Belmont upset Duke.
When Jobe took over the second time @ SU, SU had no talent, and certainly wasn't Jobe's type of players. Jobes second team was all freshmen.did you watch the Black Magic documentary at all.. You cant compare what was done in the 80s and early 90s to what we have now.... we are getting nowhere near the same caliber athlete. Jobe said it, McClendon said it, and Big House Gaines said it. Why do you think Big House Gaines career ended the way it did (Jobe also)... why do you think Jobes career ended with VERY subpar years at SU and Tuskegee? Things that where done back then DONT work in this time.
And when we were playing SWAC Ball, SU beat GT 93, the next year Texas Southern 94 lost to the eventual champion Arkansas by 1, TSU missed Free throws @ the end.
SU won. ALcorn won, and alot of the games were under 10 points. Now since we change our style, we can't get the same players.I don't know what "SWAC Ball" is, but it has not resulted in a SWAC team making a deep run in the NCAA tourney. Like I keep saying, UCLA has better players than Valley does. The style does not matter, it's all about execution and making shots. How do you expect Valley to make shots when the game speeds up, and they can't make shots when the game slows down?

Did you see any Swac games pre 96. If not please don't comment.
I was like 13 in 1996, so no. But it does not take a basketball savant to figure out that UCLA is winning because they have better players....The style don't matter. Valley just screwed up a 2-on-1 fastbreak. So that running theory is not working out so well. Valley, just like almost all HBCU schools, need better players.
And darn what the fans think about they style of play. It works when you are playing in the SWAC and the players skill level is about the same, but it don't work when you are a No. 16 playing a No.1 with All-Americans on the court.
How the hell Valley won the tournament??
SWAC basketball is not far at all from JUCO

GT had better players than SU in 93 but they tried to run with SU and paid for it. Again, Valley isn't use to running, and their system or players doesn't fit it. SU had a system and stuck to it. Shoot every 8 seconds. Get 90 plus shoots per game. Force tempo. Out rebound your opponent. Make them run. Most team got caught up in SU's game and by the second half, the other team had no legs. Running neutralizes height, strength, and shooting.

Run the other teams bigs to death.
