MVSU vs JSU


Man, it's about to be some fights in about 30 minutes. Valley has been embarrassed.

I know JSU has taken over the stadium.

It is not our second string that sucks, but instead our stupid DC for going into a prevent when we have a team beat.
 
you got a point.. I tell u if we had played in Memphis last weekend, the TnSU that I witnessed today would have destroyed us. They held FAMU to a low...... taking advantage of every mistake and just shut down the Rattlers
 
I don't think FAMU is as strong as they have been in the past. I don't think this the only game they will lose this year. I think they will lose atleast three more games.
If Counselor is the real deal like I think he is, bring TSU on. If the kicking game doesn't stop us, we can beat anybody.

TNState did not impress me. FAMU dissapointed me. SU will beat them this year. Their defense is suspect and the offense was better at running the ball which is not typical FAMU.
 
First of all, let's not put too much stock in Valley's 36pts. After their initial 19 point outburst, Valley was out-scored 60-3 over the next 2 and a half quarters. By the 4th, JSU had made their point and probably just wanted to avoid any injuries, remember how banged up we were after Howard.

Second, I watched the TSU-FAMU game, and I wasn't that impressed with either team. Quinn Gray is sorry as hell (How many QBs nowadays do u see with a gut) and TSU QB wasn't that much better. All i saw from TSU was a decent RB and pretty good speed on defense.

You must where glasses and didn't have them on. TnSU had more than just a running game, Bruh! They had Defense. They had speed on both sides of the ball. They also great coaching. They are back to the TnSU that L.C. built without the infractions.

ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) _ Robert Kent passed for five touchdowns and ran for two more as Jackson State defeated rival Mississippi Valley State 66-36 Saturday night in a game marred by a bench-clearing brawl.

Jackson State (2-0, 1-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference) won its seventh straight against Mississippi Valley State (0-3, 0-1) and increased its series lead to 41-6-1.

The Tigers trailed 19-6 in the first half before scoring 36 unanswered points.

The fight broke out in the second quarter after Jackson State was flagged for a late hit during a Delta Devils punt return.

After the play, opposing players began pushing and shoving near the Tigers' sideline. That led to punches being thrown and helmets being swung.

The game was delayed 25 minutes as school officials and stadium security broke up the melee.

Jackson State led 34-19 at the time of the fight.

Kent passed for 256 yards in only three quarters. It was the third straight game Jackson State has scored more than 60 points against Mississippi Valley State.

It was the first time the SWAC rivals met in Itta Bena since 1979. The game had been played at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson every season since 1982.



Had Kent stayed in the game it would have been a higher yardage.
 
The fight

Man that fight was ugly. I didn't know who got ejected if anyone, because it looked like everybody was swinging on somebody. This is how it started:

First of all, Valley was getting all the calls and our D was playing horribly. When we finally starting getting stops, Valley punted and on two straight punts, a Valley defender clobbered the returner (Laderrick Crosley) in violation of the "halo" rule. The second time was well before the ball got there. Crosley was knocked out of the game and our bench wanted the Valley player ejected. Nothing happened. Next JSU punt, the ball is rolling on the ground and circled by about 5 JSU players and another JSU player clocks the punt returner away from the ball in obvious retaliation. He's getting high fives from his teammates when everybody on Valley's bench, except maybe 10 players runs accross the field to the JSU bench and everybody is fighting. Players were swinging helmets and everything.

This is gonna be a nightmare.
 
I viewed this TNST ball club yesterday. These people will make some noise in the OVC. This is not the same product that was put on the field last year. However, FAMU is not the same ball club either as their passing attack is much weaker with a very suspect defense. Look for TNST to have a great season and the JSU/TNST turkey day game to be a classic. As a matter of fact look for SU/JSU & GSU/JSU to be classic matchups also...Peace
