MVSU ex coach blast valley

Gee Whiz! i think you're on to something there TP. Woods wanted to coach at JSU soooooooooo bad he decided he would kick TEE-vester's ass 3 good times this year in hopes he would get fired and he could take his job!!!!

#RealManofGenius

yeah, he was sooooo happy that TEE-vester finally had a down year so he could get a win over him.. I am sure he is still shaking in his boots from the HUGE 3-point win over the Mighty JSU in Dallas.

Considering before Woods' tenure, we rarely lost to JSU in basketball - what are you talking about? In addition, we've always had good basketball teams...

Football is pitiful and always has been, but to say we take any coach means that our anything usually beats your best... even when we don't win the title, we always have good seasons.

Obviously some of ya'll don't know Sean Woods. Everybody at Valley knew what the deal was, why don't you think we aren't upset about him leaving? He came in, served his contract and moved on. Nothing reported is NEW or Earth-shattering, he's been saying that stuffl At the end of the day, nobody holds a gun to our coaches heads to make them take the job. They accept it for what it is, man up, and get the job done to the best of their abilities. When they do a good job and time for advancement comes, they go, simple as that.

Frat I can agree with your rationale of do a good job, advance and go; but you can go without the negative comments that he made. Being a Valley alum I'm sure you were privileged to some comments that we outsiders didn't know. Obviously you didn't see the newscast. It wasn't a secret about the condition of the gym floor, the bus rides to a middle school to practice and to schedule the Div. 1 schools to make money {Hell we all do that}
He made my blood boil and I'm an Alcornite. These are a few of his quotes. "The only person that you probably ever heard about from Valley was Jerry Rice". "You probably couldn't get anyone else with a background like mine to come to Valley to coach". "I've left the program in good standings and it won't be as hard for whoever follows him to keep things going". "I brought the pride back and they know how to win now". These quotes might not be what he said word for word but they're not far off. If I remember correctly he never had a head coaching job before Valley. He applied for the job, Valley didn't recruit him. Those people at Morehead are probably thinking that he was a saviour leading you out of the darkness into the light; another Moses. They don't know about the Valley team that almost upset Duke and the other good teams coached by Strib. James Green did pretty good also before he departed. Karma is a Bytch and I hope he knows it when he sees it.

right...he had Coach Pitino, all these other coaches call saying they'd pay MVSU tons of money if they hire Woods...

he was working at TSU before he got to MVSU

The fact that JSU Alcorn and valley don't have much in common academically is a huge plus. After we merge perspective students can choose which branch to attend according to their interest.

See, whitefolks have figured this out a long time ago. All they have to do is keep us divided that's the whole battle. There is power in numbers and a single agenda. As long as we are fighting against each other trying to split a few pennies there is nothing for them to do. How much better would we be if there was one big black school in Mississippi? The same goes for the other states. There should only be 5 D1 schools. We could have our own NotreDame but instead we have 30 PrairieViews.

Just look in your own neighborhood ...there is a black church on every corner. As a matter of fact where I grew up you can throw a rock in any direction and hit a black church....ain't doing a damn thing but taking up the building fund. But there's a white church nearby that takes up the whole block. They send kids to college have daycare all kinds of community support set political agendas and on and on. But black churches just like black colleges can't do that because we are too divided.

That's the one that stood out to me as well... that and the one about knowing how to win... ummm Al Ford.

But we'll be aight... on to the next one

What gets BH is, "What is so offensive about that?". Jerry Rice is argubly the best player to ever play professional football. Deacon Jones came but was Mississippi Valley State named Mississippi Valley State at the time?

OK he is a cocky coach, Doug Williams is a cocky coach that has said the same things and you can just change the valley Coaches names to Robinson and Broadway in what you said will be true about Grambling... But most on here support and dont have a problem with a Cocky Doug Williams but you have a problem with what a Cocky Sean Woods says??? Seems like we are taking offense because he is not one of us

Frat,
Honestly he went to Kentucky, nobody outside of the SWAC knows Valley has always been a winner in Basketball.. Everyone knows Jerry Rice... But to be honest, a lot of SWAC people didnt know who SEAN WOODS was when he was hired by valley

If he would have coached at Alcorn for 4 years and left and said the only thing Alcorn is known for is McNair or that all JSU is only known for is Walter Payton, yall would be miffed as well with a statement like that.
