MULTIPLE MARRIAGES

A co-worker is dating a Baptist Minister who has been married and divorced "5" times. Do you think things will work out for him (and her) on #6? It will be a 1st time for her.

Anytime a minister can't get this marriage thing right I would be concerned.

Will she be okay? Sure, all relationships end in one way or another. She'll find a way to cope.

Does this marriage stand a snowball's chance in hell of lasting "until death do us part"? Depends on how old this guy is ... Seriously ... no.

How will you see that, and what difference does that make? Will that allow you some kind of satisfaction on behalf of the "single brothers she dissed" if this relationship goes wrong?

If the minister ain't married, he's single, too.

At any rate, good luck to both of them.

If Jag knows her, he can keep us informed...but if it's true...it also shows some individuals rather align themselves for the "name" (if this minister is a big-wig) and the short-term gratification than waiting it out and finding a potential person...

this could be a "desperation" move also as we've all encountered women who want to be married so bad they'll overlook alot of things to get the "title"

This is off-topic but that Bridezilla's episode 2 weeks ago was a perfect example...that woman was "stood-up" at the alter and embarrassed in front of family and a national TV audience only to elope with the man the next day because he "cried" that night..

Isn't there a limit to how many times you can get married? 5 ex-wives? Wow!

Nope! I don't think it will work. 5 times is a lot of times to be married. It's obvious the Minister has some issues in-order for him to be divorced that many times.

Don't think I could go to the alter 6 times.

I don't think I could do it a second time.

I wish them the best, but I hope they both (particularly the woman) go into this knowing what they are doing. If she can accept the fact that he's been married five times and hopefully understands his feelings on marriage and they both know their role in the marriage and their expectations... and she STILL wants to marry him, God bless'em!

Her concern should be about why and not being the wife of a minister. I bet he has been dipping in the pool of sisters. But, nowadays there are so many ministers that are bi-sexual.

Will it work "Possible" but the odds are against him, unless he has asolved those issues.

I am thinking, dang, I still looking for a wife

Not a good sign at all :smh: But maybe they all ended because death did them apart? If not, I guess she thinks it will be different with her as 4 of the others thought.

The Bible should always be the final authority, all else are just opinions. 1 Corinthians 7 gives the Marriage Instructions from God through the Apostle Paul. The Book of Hosea truly shows how much God love us, as He (via prophet Hosea) is protrayed as the Husband of a Whoring nation, one He will never divorce.

The fact that anyone has been divorced more than once should give caution and concern.

In Summary, It is clear, God hates divorce.

P.S. Following God's principles will eliminate a lot of future problems.

I am quite the optimist and I believe God can do anything, but short of a direct word from God I cannot think of a single reason that I would consent to perform or even sanction the marriage of someone who has already failed in marriage 5 times. And...that brother really needs to consider surrendering his minister's license. He's not ready.

I agree, we had one sister to leave our congregation, because the peacher refuse to perform the ceremony - it was her third marriage.
