Most Hated Touchdown Song

The same reason someone would mention a school song when the thread is about the TOUCHDOWN SONG.

You never heard of the "Tucker"? It was an automobile made in the 50's that could do what hybrids do now and even had turning head lights. Out of the like 50 that are still in existence, if I remember right, every single one is STILL running and doesn't need engine, transmission, or head lamp work. The theme song for the car was exactly the same as Grambling's fight song, but with different words.

Whew!! For Bandsmen, ya'll sure have a huge issue with focused (staying on the same page)...

As for the topic, a good one by the way, I'm stuck between JSU's "Get Ready" and Alcorn's war path song (I guess that is there fight song). Back in the day (Early 80's and back), I would have easily said Alcorn. But, they changed the arrangement I guess in the mid to late '80's and it doesn't have the same impact to me (knowing the difference). "Get Ready", however, still has that impact, especially when JSU is living up to being "The Boom". So, I've talked my way into it - JSU's "Get Ready".

Not being on the other side of the fence to hear SU's Fight Song or "SU Spirit", I want include either for fairness. However, I do remember Coach Casem telling the Jukebox when he came to the "The Bluff" that it was always his goal to keep them from playing that "Ole' Southern Spirit", because he knew those boyz would be coming when the Juke cracked that up. I can understand most of you not saying the same, because the Juke doesn't crack that "Ole Southern Spirit" up much at all any more. So, SU's Fight Song is more on your minds for SU these days.

Peace

Seems like you are having trouble staying focused yourself. "Get Ready" is not Jacksons Touch Down Song. It is that joint that sounds like the Popeye the Sailor man theme.

Well I only love Alcorn's Chameleon the worst fight song is either Grambling's or Alcorn Grambling is worser because the cheerleaders do the river dance  But do any know where to go to to find Out how you listen to band clips besides 5thquarter

Didn't Valley jack Grambling's version of the National Anthem?

Can we say stock arrangement. I think UAPB has the same arrangemnt we have and someone else ,too. It's just a stock arrangement.

If Devil's Gun don't make any sense to you how in the hell does Cherokee?

If Devil Gun doesn't make sense to you , then good cause it's not for you it for Valley Fans , Alumni , and students

We are the Braves aren't we  Not liking it and making sense are two different things.

Cherokee is the TD song I hate the most. It wasn't so bad to me, until Steve McNair came along. His last 2 years, that song was beaten into my head.

Growing up, I hated Gram's fight song.

Now that you mentioned it, they are playing some crap on TDs now. But, they still crack the Get Ready after that momentary bliss. SU has always played their Fight Song on TDs, but it is my understanding people use to hate to hear the SU Spirit crack after that. So, technically I guess that eliminates those as the TD song for the school. With that, it would be Alcorn's song that sounds like theiy are on the war path (the one that sounds similar to Florida State's).

Peace.

Wow... I didn't know GSU had a fight song. There are a couple of songs like Neck and one other that I can't think of that they blow. But, I seem to recall hearing it all game and not one specifically everytime the score. It could be a fault of mines due to the how much I'm paying attention to their band after they score on SU. I'm probably focused more on why we gave up the score and what we need to do as a team to answer the score and simple misse what is happening in that corner of the stadium with the band.

I might recall this when I'm reviewing Classic tapes and see if anything stands out.

When Grambling scores a TD they play "Tiger Rag". "Tiger Rag" IS NOT OUR FIGHT SONG! Our fight song is seldomly played now a days, only once or twice during a whole game. Once when the football team comes on the field, again when the team is in trouble, and again maybe after the game after the alma mater.

P.S. I know nobody from Grambling have the nerve to talk about anybody's uniform. When ya'll take them easy comfort nurse shoes off, then u may be able to say something.

I was referring to late '70s, early '80s. They used to play that damn song a lot.

I heard Suge singing it at a game once. Goes something like, "fight! For dear old Grambling. Fight! We're gonna win" etc . . . And during those days JSU couldn't beat Gram for nothing, so I really hated that song.

Key or something changed. It is different that what I grew up on in the 70's and early 80's. It use to be like hearing JSU's "Get Ready", "aaahh shoot, those boys are coming hard now!". Now, it is "We better do something quick before we lose control of this".

Peace

I hate GSU fight song and Alcorn's fight song . But Alcorn's is better than GSU. Alcorn sound like some terrified Indians when they play they fight song  Grambling play like a high school band  But do anyone have Alcorn's Chameleon clip played by the band

we can't help that we have our own identity, valley needs to try it sometimes, hating arse, valley has no room to talk about any hbcu on planet heard or even a high school at that.

I know we are talking about most hated touchdown songs, but no one can say anything about AAMU's touchdown song. That trumpet fanfare in the finale is off the chain every year

Grambling's fight song lacks a little something. It's like when it's played ya'lls fans just be like whatever. Say what you want about SU's fight song, but everybody knows when its played the jaguar nation is ready to get it crunk.
