Two sizable streaks came to an end Wednesday night in the Alcorn State-Morris Brown basketball game, causing jubilation in the historic district of Atlanta.
Morris Brown snapped an 18-game losing streak with a hard-fought 68-64 victory over Alcorn State. The Braves saw an eight-game winning streak perish.
A crowd of 2,230 saw Morris Brown take a 37-34 halftime lead and hold on to go 2-18 on the season. Amien Hicks led Morris Brown with 17 points, followed by Joseph Dunn with 15 and Larry Washington with 13.
Alcorn, which outrebounded Morris Brown 43-28, fell to 9-6. Marcus Fleming pumped in 18 points and Jason Cable 11 with Fleming and Lee Cook pulling down eight rebounds apiece.
