I guarantee our guards would've dominated Morehead State's backcourt as well as our inside game, and I KNOW we would've scored more than 45 points. Plus our players wouldn't have had deer in the headlight syndrome the entire game.
This is a total embarassment of epic proportion. It rivals that of Valley's last year.
Two schools know how to play on the big stage or at least put up a fight, and that's JSU and SU (under Ben Jobe).

Um, your team lost to Bama St, so therefore your view is moot.

Of the 8 HBCU match-ups (4 MEAC and 4 SWAC), the only game that we have been able to win FAMU over Lehigh (72-57) happen when both conference played their basketball conference tournament that same weekend prior to the "Open Round" game.

The other 7 losses (or 88 percent), [4 losses SWAC or 100 percent and 3 losses 75 percent] have been against teams that have played the conference tournament a week prior.

Dude trust my anger is with my team, and I hope Lew Jack is not resting on winning the SWAC and getting his team ready to compete OC next year....this is just the beginning for Alabama State Basketball......

Dude, you lost four starters. You will not recover from that in one year. You won't recover from this setback for another four years.

I tried to tell you that basketball is many times a game of matchups. Bama State's style and strengths didn't matchup well against Morehead's style and strengths.

I still think Brandon Brooks is a good guard and one of the best in the swac in recent years. 10pts 7rbs 2 steal 2 assist 2 blocks 5 t/o

As for tonight...they have consistantly struggled on the glass and got beat to death on it tonight...talk about blood on the dance floor. that one dude had 21 rebounds. they couldn't throw it in the ocean tonight. funny thing is both team only made 18 shots apiece, but morehead made 18 free throws to the hornets 5. so bama state played D but just could generate any offense. Couldn't make jumpers and morehead sat in that zone and waited it out.

I do believe JSU may have been a better match up. They force teams to foul them and they go to the line and make shots. Their defense is about the same as bama state and jsu rebounds the basketball, they just don't shoot the 3 well outside of garrison johnson. jsu probably would have been a better match up.

Do you know anything about basketball, Brandon and Cheif were transfers last year, trust me when I say, that Bama State will be in the mix next year......

I dont want hear crap about them being tired...
B/c Syracuse played 6 OTs then less than 24hrs later played an intense game which went into OT.... And they WON both games

There was no reason for them to lose tonight. Morehead is garbage.... :smh:

Jackson's guards resemble ASU's.......once the starters go out it's all she wrote....but MSU contained Brooks all night long and Chief made Dahill legit...

Well what is yall's excuse for losing Saturday night....lol yall funny....

Jafus, I don't think we have a way to fix this unless we go to an EAST-WEST format and go to a home-away series for the teams on the opposing division which would (for example) bring SU to JSU one year take JSU to SU the next. This would shorten our season by 5 games. The other option would be to start the conference games a week earlier but that would not be a good idea.

That won't happen until the SWAC and MEAC make a real committment to getting better athletes. What I saw on the floor tonight was mid-level D-II / NAIA talent.

That won't happen until we get more money and more exposure....which ain't gonna happen.

I have enough sense to know that if you lose FOUR seniors off the starting team, you won't be nowhere near the team you are next year. Of those four, three are probably your best players. Maturity and basic skills will surely be lacking for Bama State next year.

The Band Fan, even the Hornet fans wasn't happy with Chief, there was always a loud response when Roland came into the game, I felt he should of been the starter........just my opinion.....

Ok you win, just don't get mad when Bama State bust yo azz next year....lol

BAMA jelly is 3-9 vs JSU in recent history and the first game this year was a fluke. I will even give you the championship game but we should have gone 2-1 vs you this year.

Dude, yall were lucky to win in B'ham simply because we missed so many free throws we normally make. Plus over the last ten meetings, we are 7-3 against you. Plus you lost four starters. Plus you're losing your BEST player, best shot blocker and two best shooters.

The likelihood of Bama State winning next year is around 15-20 percent, and I'm being generous at that.

neither one rebounds the basketball though, which is a glaring weakness. hopefully jimmie sutton can help fix that. roland has got to get on the glass to be more of a complete player. bama state's big problem for next year is they don't have a point guard. porchea would have been a key player this year and the starter next year but passed away. no one on the roster has distinguished himself. w/ sutton, the guys they're on in recruiting, they'll be close to the top again. their aiming for another 20 win season.

No doubt we need money but until we hit the lotto we need to become more resourceful. It's possible as Morgan State has shown. They've been able to improve by signing D-I transfers, getting players ranked in the top 500 and keeping their nucleus for all 3 or 4 years. More of us should be able to do this.

Yall still jumping up and down, about a 3 point home win.......You can cut and paste this, ALABAMA STATE WILL BE IN THE MIX NEXT YEAR....TRUST!!!!!

Morehead State sucks. Louisville is going to run them out of that gym Friday. We can talk from now til the end of time about how much better JSU would have done. The game just once again shows where we are as a conference currently in the national picture. We've gotta do better. Period.

p.s.

As much as I hate them Bamma's but didn't they kick yall arse a few days ago? Did you miss that or something?

JSU this, JSU that. JSU got drugg, that's why they ain't there. period.

TSPN is funny..... This is a basically REASONABLE train of thought. Makes perfect sense to me. "Well, your team didn't even make it... so, what you talking for?" It can be argued back in forth, but that's pretty much a solid argument... It's just funny that this didn't apply until 9:00 tonight. LOLOL.

i.e. the 1,000,000 SU posters commenting on a basketball championship game like their team won more than 10 games this year... That's all.

Lucky?....We shut your azz down in the second half....lucky my azz.....

How about this. The conference is down. JSU was no better than ASU, and probably would have lost tonight as well. Changing around the conference tourney schedule, or dividing the league to a East-West format of the 800-pound monkey in the room. Lack of talent.

HBCUs as a whole are just not good enough to win consistently against OCC foes. Until that happens, HBCUs will continue to get blown out in the first round of the NCAAs, in the play-in game and the regular season.

So Jayrob and other JSU fans arguing about the Tigers would have won need to go somewhere and be quiet. It does not matter. The SWAC is 0-5 in the play-in game.

3 games back to back. Then they get on the plane go to Dayton and play Tuesday.A half day rest at best Bama State. Their legs are gone. The SWAC need to change the tourney date. I've seen Bama State play...this is not the same quick Hornets that could shoot lights out. You need your legs to have a good shot. The Swac officials know there is a 50 50 chance to get the play in. Why take that chance of wearing down your tournament champion?

I totally agree, this team didn't play like they've played all season.
