Three DeKalb County teens got an unusual field trip Friday when the mother of one of them allegedly checked them out of school so they could accompany her on a bank heist.

Police in Lilburn said Tawander Simmons, 35, of Stone Mountain, robbed a Wells Fargo Bank in the 5500 block of Lawrenceville Highway with three teens Friday morning.

Simmons checked her son Benny Brice, 17, and the two other boys, out of Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain just before the robbery, Deputy Chief of Police Bruce Hedley said.

Three suspects armed with at least one handgun entered the bank at 9 a.m., took cash and ran to a car occupied by a fourth suspect, Hedley said.

A witness called police, and minutes later Lilburn officers spotted the red Toyota Corolla and gave chase.

The suspects crashed into a railroad track at East Ponce de Leon Avenue and I-285 near Clarkston.

Police arrested Simmons and her son and two other teens, both from Lithonia: Glenn Broom, 18, and David Rollins, 17.

All four were charged with armed robbery.

I wonder if the kids knew what was going on at the time she checked them out of school.
Next question...wonder if the parents of the other 3 teens will file charges against the woman for getting their child(ren) into this mess.
This is sad.....she needs her arse beat
