Mo Forte solidifies class with JuCo transfers

A sparkling University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff football recruiting class got a little more solid with the recent additions of seven California junior college players and another NCAA Division I transfer.



In February second-year head coach Mo Forte signed several standout area and in-state prep players, and recently put the finishing touches on inking the transfers.

Stephen Green, a star running back at Pulaski Academy, will transfer from the University of North Carolina after redshirting his freshman season.

Green, a 6-0, 195-pound defensive back, is the brother of former UAPB safety Greg Wesley, who now plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Forte also added Monterey Peninsula receiver Clarence Love (6-3,190), Fullerton College defensive lineman Johnny O'Quinn (6-4, 320), Grossmont College guard Patrick Kapunai (6-5, 320), Modesto College defensive back Will Harding (6-3, 205), El Camino College linebacker Keenan Kelsey Long Beach City College offensive lineman Alex Freeman (6-5, 305) and Los Angeles Junior College defensive end Mychal Johnson (6-5. 240).

Even before this I thought UAPB will be in the thick of the West race this season...these signees only reinforce that idea for me...hope GSU can get past them!
 
Looks like ole mo is trying to shape things back the way it was when Pine Bluff first came into the leaque.
 
I've read when Mo has Tony Dorsett (he was the runningback coach for TD in Denver) and other NFL greats in Pine Bluff for a golf tournament that will raise money for the football program. Not only will TD be in attendance for the golf tournament, but also he will speak to the players.

Mo is trying to make the West more competitive, lets see.
 
Mo is tryin' to make it hot down in the Bluff. We just need to be competitive on a yearly basis. This is a big season coming up.
 
PNeck, why it gotta be like that? I'm sure you'll enjoy your trip to the Bluff.... Well, hopefully not too much...

That Classic in Chicago should be a good one, especially since it is a holiday weekend and I hear that they have started marketing the game in the city.

that'll never happen again due to them being in the NCAA now but he could get somewhat close...if Hardman could do things over again...he probably would've found a way to win with that much damn talent....they brought all those NAIA guys with them and literally punished the weaker teams but got outcoached by the stronger teams.

I remember the overtime game against SU in 1997...but what I could not figure out was when Hardman had those same 2 backs who hit 1,000 yards in 2000 back do nothing in 2001.

and to think he had Mark Bradley of Oklahoma and now the NFL on campus and contributing as a freshman...
 



It could happen. The talent has always and will always come to UAPB. The Razorbacks can only hold so much talent. Many of the guys in the league from UAPB, transfered from UA because of playing time. That won't change.

The big difference is Mo might know how to coach, Hardman didn't. Both of those backs were transfers, one from UA and the other from OU. He messed up their senior year by making the line change the way they run block.

Yep,that's what did it for Hardman. We beat Southern 30-19 in Little Rock and then in the Grambling game started this big slow White dude,Roger Linn for QB and Doug Williams put 8 sometimes nine in the box. Roger Linn was to dayum slow to scramble;and due to blocking scheme change,AT MIDSEASON, AGAINST GRAMBLING, WITH A SLOW AZZ QB, Grambling kicked our butts.

But that following Monday morning man the whole city of Pine Bluff wanted to form a posse and go hang Hardman on campus.:lmao:
 
I remember when Coach Hardman became the hoach back in '92. We were still recovering from the 'death penalty' stemming from the Cooley days. He did a pretty good job in the beginning (UAPB was the NAIA runner up in '95, beating Central State and Hugh Douglas along the way). He just was too dayum CONSERVATIVE to be a good SWAC coach. He didn't understand that we needed to SCORE to beat teams in the SWAC. We are still suffering from that now (just look at our QB).
 
Yall hard on Hardiman (and I understand) but he didn't leave the program on probation and he did make some inroads. He got talent over there...now yall got the coaching. Forte did a good job last year and once he diversifies the offense he is gonna be tough to deal even more. Trust me...yall came up last year.

The West is gonna be very competitive this year with each team improved over last season. I think it's gonna be good football in the SWAC this season...a lot of balance and teams with potential. We're gonna see which coaches handles the job best. This season it will really be on coaching.

You are right, and Prairie View will not be a slouch this year either.
 
We will have to live with our 7 passing yards per game again this season because I don't think we have upgraded from the QB standpoint. He did recruit some size at reciever, but not unless they have taught the QB how to read defenses, we will have to depend on our running game (which we lost 3 senior RBs).

Losing those RBs I'm not concerned with. Neither of them did anything before Mo came, so that says Mo can make anybody a running back (Mo did coach RBs for the Broncos, you know). I love a running collegiate football team, but you have to be able to pass sometimes.

It's a joke, man. I was very critical about that nonsense last year, but I couldn't resist the urge to make light of it when your fellow Lions were touting how strong y'all will be this year.

I plan on being in the Bluff in November. It may be a long weekend for me though. It's the first weekend of the HS playoffs in La and I may have a long busride that Friday night before pulling out for PB Saturday morning.
