President Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, pleaded guilty on Friday morning to a charge of making false statements to the FBI. Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, filed the charges against Flynn on Thursday in a three-paragraph “information” that leaves many questions about Flynn’s activities unanswered.

Flynn is the fourth figure from Trump’s presidential campaign to face charges and there are indications he may be cooperating with prosecutors in the broader Russia probe.

The charging documents were made public on Friday morning. Shortly afterwards, the White House referred questions about the charges to Ty Cobb, the lawyer who is handling issues related to the Russia investigation for the Trump administration. Cobb and Flynn’s attorney, Robert Kelner, did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Yahoo News. Flynn did not respond to questions shouted by reporters as he walked into the courthouse to make his plea.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former national security adviser Michael Flynn is to plead guilty Friday to making false statements to the FBI, becoming the fourth person charged in a wide-ranging investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller and his team of prosecutors.

Court documents show Flynn, an early and vocal supporter on the campaign trail of President Donald Trump, will admit to lying to the FBI about his conversations during the transition period with Russia's ambassador to the United States.

Flynn, who was interviewed by the FBI just days after Trump's inauguration, was forced to resign in February after White House officials said he had misled them about whether he had discussed sanctions with the ambassador, Sergey Kislyak.

Nothing is going to happen. He is going to pull an Ollie North. He will say he will trade some small charges for a plea deal and when it comes time to rat everyone out he will give them nothing or some more harmless charges. Anything he is charged on will federally will be pardoned

The section on the Iran-Contra affair explains what Flynn is about to do.

Reagan's ability to do this and remain untouchable throughout his presidency is why conservatives love him so much. He is loved not for what he did but for what he was able to get away with. He is the model republican for blueprinting how to get away with crime and how to enact practices that hurt your own base while enriching your friends. When Trump gets away with this(and he will). He will be regarded and looked up to by future republicans the same way.
