LOL. I was :smh: when Douglas-Roberts slammed the ball to the floor in the waning moments and the ref did everything in his power to refrain from calling a technical foul. (That brother had the patience of Job.)
No discipline whatsoever. That's a reflection of the coach.

If you don't recognize LACK OF DISCIPLINE in the SWAC @ certain events, it's something seriously wrong w/ you. :retard: I'm the BIGGEST critic of PV sports. Ask some of the alums. lol I could care the hell less about a victory or loss. It's HOW we got there that I'm MOST concerned w/. :read:

I don't think I would have instructed my team to foul when I'm up by 3 with 10 seconds remaining and the other team has to go 94 feet. That was a DIFFICULT shot that Kansas made, and I will live with that. The defense Memphis played was MUCH BETTER than the defense that LSU women played against Tenn in which they let Candice Parker drive the length of the court.
I would have FORCED Kansas to take a 2 pointer. I would have place all my men OUTSIDE the 3 point line and made it a 2 possession game. No way would I have let them get off a 3 pointer.
Maybe they should have played a 3-2 zone the last 10 seconds or something.

If your criticism was done in balance, you'd get your point across. It seems that all you do is cricize the SWAC, while negating to point out the positive characteristics of the SWAC.

It sickens me to see the shape we're in while most tend to turn a deaf ear or a blind eye to the obvious. :| Did you see what was on the floor @ the uofKansas/memphisU game? What about lsu/univTenn women? All black squads going against all black squads. THEIR level of competitivity was EONS above what we now offer on the court or gridiron. :read: THAT was what the SWAC and other historically black conferences looked like just as recently as 30+ years ago in terms of competitivity. This really frustrates me when I see "D" league play from a proud conference that had nothing but "A" leaguers.
When the positives outweight the negatives, holla' @ me. Until then, I will be unyielding in my perception of what I PERSONALLY view. Damn the root cause. I want a solution to make it better. Hate the MESSAGE & not the messenger. Distinguish between the two and then you can converse w/ someone of my ilk. :swink:

So where was some of Kansas key players from GR? Chalmers arse is from Alaska.....LOL. Robinson is from NY. Rush is from Kansas City.
If you had not noticed........the best point guard in NBA history is from up North..........the second and third best are from up North as well. LOL.......your boy ebay is from up North/East(Philly) as well. Your logic don't jive in basketball.

They didn't have to foul, but he should have let them know that late in the game identify and locate the shooters. Whomever was assigned to Chalmers and Rush should have been up on them and guarding the three point line. Hell let that stocky box built dude drive all the way to the basket if necessary... the way he was stumbling ain't no way he would have gathered himself and make a three point shot.
Oh well, hindsight. I was for Memphis but honestly I don't get all worked up over any of these schools losing. Not my alma mater!:swink:

I disagree, because the case can be made that what you're suggesting is what Memphis did. And we see what happened by them doing that.
If they had fouled, Chalmers (or any other Kansas player) would not have been in a position to hit that three.
Yes, Memphis choked those FTs, but I place just as much or more blame on Calipari for not settling his team and giving them instructions on that last play. After all, he's being paid how many $$$$ to do just that?

In any situation, I'd rather foul than give up a three point shot. If I chose not to foul, all a player has to do is make ONE shot, whereas if I chose to foul, the player would have to execute the following: 1) make the first free throw; 2) purposely miss the second free throw; 3) get the offensive rebound; 4) then make the tying shot.
If all four don't happen, the game's over. The odds of all four happening in that order are far less than a guy hitting one shot.

I once was coaching and was up by 3 points and instructed my kids to foul. The dayum ref called an "INTENTIONAL FOUL", they hit the 2 freethrows, got the ball back at half court, scored immediately and went up by 1. My daughter came down and hit a 3 pointer w/ 2 seconds left on the clock and we won by 2.:lmao:

That was poor coaching on your part. Foul the person with the ball by going for a steal. If you get the steal, then fine, but if not, you still get the foul by running into the player with the ball.

We had 2 fouls to give, it was poor officiating, not poor coaching. I told my kids that we would let the clock run and when they heard me say "RED", the person on the ball should foul. The refs simply wanted to put the game in his hands, and determine the outcome.
Point is, you don't chance it. Memphis did the right thing by not fouling. That was a DIFFICULT shot that Kansas made.

Kansas won because they played more like an organized team. Other teams would have given up or thrown the playbook and fundamentals out of the window.

It aint that serious Sonny. If it wasn't for Kansas..........Dean Smith who is an alum then UNC would have not been on the basketball map like they are now. Which means no Roy Williams. Not to mention it was Smith who sent his protege and UNC alum Larry Brown to Kansas with a North Carolina kid named Danny Manning to turn Kansas around then ole Dean helped them out again when Larry left Kansas in the lurch for the NBA or whatever job he left them for........and sent his top assistant (Roy Williams) to Kansas. So there has been a Kansas-UNC connection. Bill Self the current Kansas coach was given his first job by Larry Brown as an assistant at Kansas back in the 80s. So was John Calipari. While I think ole Roy went overboard with all that Kansas sentimental stuff......it will not be any fallout. Coach Smith still runs UNC basketball and all that goes with it. I am sure ole Roy will be okay. Just looked a little hokie to me. I wouldn't have done it. Kansas fans had no reason to be pissed at him anyway for leaving to go back home. Especially seeing how UNC alums have helped them out over the years too.
Hansbrough probably would have been at Kansas if Roy was still there. So he'll be fine too.:lmao:
