Gates will open at 1:30 p.m. Shuttle buses will begin running from the Park and Ride lot off of Clinton Parkway starting at 12:30 p.m. Parking lots and the parking garage near the stadium will be open to public parking.

Even with their horrible FT shooting, Memphis could have been saved with some level-headed coaching. No way should Calipari NOT have had them to foul on that last possession before Chalmers hit the three.

They should have fould the dribbler when he went over the half court line.
If he makes 2 ft..you are still up by 1. When you inbound, KU would have to foul and put you on the line. Even if you miss both, you are still up by 1.
The inbounding would have taken atleast 2.5 seconds off the clock leaving 4.5 seconds for KU to bring it up the court and try for a desparation shot to win. No way that was going to happen.
That was a bad coaching call by Calapari and it cost Memphis. That and missed Free Throws.

Exactly. Calipari was the main reason I had doubts about Memphis all season. I still thought they would beat Kansas though. I am sure somewhere...John Chaney is :lmao:

And how do you know Kansas wouldn't have still pulled it out??? Kansas could have easily hit two free throws while Memphis would have missed both of theirs. That leaves Kansas down by 1 with about 7 seconds on the clock. Kansas still could have pulled it out. If those players would've hit those free throws we wouldn't be having this discussion. They CHOKED.

Panthro, he gets the credit when the team wins, but we're supposed to blame the players when they lose?
In the clutch, you count on the coach to lead and direct by making wise decisions. The player will not always make the shot. As a matter of fact, the Memphis players hadn't been making free throws all year, so Calipari should've been prepared for this, especially if the game was close. He panicked and blew it.
Calipari not calling a timeout to set up his defense was MORE surprising and unexpected than his players missing free throws.

And by calling that timeout you give a team who is out of timeouts and down by 3, a chance to setup their offense. There was another team playing in this game. Also, in the clutch I count on my clutch PLAYER(S) to lead and hit the big shot or big FREE THROWS.

Memphis players are just like everybody else. They want to leave home too. The one's who want to play for Memphis are not the Caliber Cal wants. I really have not seen the Memphis B ball Mecca recently. Jackson,Ms would tear the current Memphis teams a new one. I don't think Memphis area schools are competing in the State title games either. And that's sad with all the rural areas in Tennessee..
Calling that timeout would have enabled him to stress the fact that they needed to FOUL the man before he shot the ball.

This is my take. Memphis kept setting those "ON THE BALL SCREENS" and Kansas big men were HEDGING the dribbler VERY HARD. This really threw off the TIMING for Memphis. Actually, it WORE their guards down. Memphis was forced to run their offense 30 feet away from the basket. That was a great coaching move by Kansas. It never allowed those guards to CREATE off the dribble.
Secondly, Kansas had more depth at the post than Memphis. Dorsey trying to hold them all lead to him fouling out. Kansas was able to FORCE their style of ball on Memphis.
Kansas was more scrappy than Memphis from start to finish. Memphis had a little run at the end and that was about it. Cal really didn't ADJUST to me. He was simply going to FORCE his style on Kansas, even though it simply wasn't working. That is what I'm saying, they got on a run at the end (not end of the game literally, but toward the end that put them up by 9).
I don't buy that one freethrow away from a title mess. Memphis had to SCRAP for every point throughout the game because Cal wouldn't adjust. Had Kansas not went to that BOX&1, then Memphis probably wouldn't got on that run. Kansas man to man defense was doing the job. The zone defense allowed Memphis to get a couple good looks that sparked the run.

Sperm, the reason Kansas went to the Box&1 is because they were having problems with their man defense. They couldn't stop CDR.

I agree. Even Calipiri stated in the press conference after the game that the main guys were tired this is the only time all season that he did not rotate Rose and CDR late in the game. He stated this was the championship game and he gamble that they could play through it. It simnply did not work out. I believe that is why Dorsey also receive that cheap file that far from the basketball on a hip check to card. He was tired and the mind goes once the body is tired. The bad habits unfortunately come back to the surface. That what makes athletics so intriguing often times is more than just a freethrow, timeout and or a foul at the end of the game. Many times is can go back to dept, rotational sequences and etc. Kansas was just deeper than Memphis in post, while Memphis had the better front line play. Bang, bang and play here or there and it goes the other way. It is what it is. A great game with great fans, athletes, coaches and athletic programs making a great deal of money based on the passion of all involed.
