MegaChurch Pastor Found Dead in Times Square Hotel Had Drugs

Eddie Long would be found with a white substance..but it wouldn't be cocaine...

What is this shyt..."A white powdery substance believed to be narcotics"?

Hell if it had been Pookie and RayRay, they could have told the paper from just glancing in the door from the sidewalk across the street it was COCAINE.

Why they got to test. They ain't sticking the pinky in it and putting it on the tip of the tongue no more? Ain't that how they make arrests still? :smh:

But honestly, I was kinda wondering if it was gonna be Eddie Longstrokes. Oh...well...

What the hell? If a member wants to speak with their PASTOR, they should be able to. I wouldn't dare go to a church where my pastor wasn't accessible. He can't be everywhere and spends lots of time on one person, but every now and then, a pastor (NOT just his staff) should be able to make time for ANY of his members. If he can't make time, he shouldn't pastor.

you want to talk to YOUR Pastor, naw...but the Secretary is available!! :lmao:

WTF she gonna do...take notes for what I want to say to my PASTOR?!?!

Right. He can ask me for money but ain't got time to hear what I want to ask from/of him? :smh: Y'all keep right on talking bad about me...cause Imma keep right on talking bad about The "Fallen" Called amongst up...

Remember though, your giving is out of obedience to GOD, not your pastor. Good thing is that GOD will always have to time to listen to you morning, day, night, etc. God never made it a requirement for pastors to meet individually with members at their request. That's what GOD is for.

Now that I do agree with you on. No one can pray for me, like I can for myself. I don't need the pator on the main line, I need Jesus.

Ok but I'm saying there's a reason that God NEVER made that a requirement for a any pastor or a any church member. Ever.

If Jesus was on earth teaching today then A LOT of church folks would love to have private meetings with him. Wouldn't be physically possible tho just like it wasn't 2000yrs ago when he was walking around here. So some "church folks" would say that wasn't right and leave Jesus' meetings to find smaller meetings?

No, maturity in Christ is recognizing thru Jesus I can meet with the Father anytime (the real plan of God) even if my pastor (the man) isn't available. God set it up like this so that everyone can have needs met anytime, anyplace, etc without waking up passa at 2am because you need something.

Can you name one issue that you can't go to God for directly this second, but instead have to wait until Thursday at 3:30pm when pastor is available... that's why private meetings with pastor are not a requirement per scripture.

I hear what you're saying. But IF I still choose to or feel a need to speak with my pastor, I SHOULD be able to. That was MY point.

Did you see ALL in my statement? Take what you want from my statement and leave what you want but don't put words in MY mouth.
Yes I saw all of your post.

"These mega church preachers are pulpit pimps and the members are sheep" -YOU

I thought I responded accordingly.

That's why I'm glad I attend my cousin's church...I can call/email him anytime I want to. :emlaugh: Seriously, I could care less about talking to a pastor...I don't want them knowing my business anyway. I'm just different when it comes to all this type of stuff...they can't save me. I don't put them on pedastals b/c I KNOW they don't deserve to be there. hell, some of these pastors are doing just as much if not more than anyone else. y'all better start serving GOD and stop worrying about the man behind that podium in the pulpit.

This is a good debate. Many people agree with the above point. However, I really agree with what nevaehinvesting is saying...

Another example to support the above would be in the Old Testament, when Moses father-in-law came to visit him and told him (paraphrasing) how it is impossible for him to lead yet at the same time deal with everyone's issues and problems one-on-one. So leaders were chosen to help Moses in this endeavor. From my experience just one person with issues can really drain you. So imagine dealing with 5, 50, 150 that want to talk to their Pastor one on one...LOL!!!

If one is able to get the time or attention from their Pastor...then they are really fortunate...:)

As a result of this having to cater (or expected to) to everyone in the congregation or community, do you think that might be the reason some of these pastors end up in precarious situations, and have turbulent family lives? I would have to think dealing with the problems of others has to be tremendously stressful.

Perfect example.

Good Question....I will answer this based on what I've witnessed:

Some Pastors I know of have admited that they indeed put their ministry and/or people that they serve before family and as a result their family was neglected. I think many that have accepted that responsibility start off very humble but along the way get caught up and forget 1 Timothy 3 especially verses 4 &5. Others may have gotten caught up in the Position of being a Pastor and having influence over others.

I think it is important for a Pastor to have an accountabilty partner or someone to watch and pray with so they can stay on the alert and hold on to integrity. I had a Seminary Professor tell me about how the Devil was glad when an honest upright man accepted his call to preach and spread the gospel. He said that the devil was
not mad but happy cause he still had the mans habits and if he just caught the man slipping, he could use the man to bring more hell on this earth, if that makes sense to everyone....

Yes. Co-sign.

Unfortunately people don't pray for them. They wait for 4 or 5 of them to fall and then say, "See! I told ya! that's why i Don't go to church. That's why i think ALL pastors with big congregations are pimps...."

Trust me, this board has proven that the expectation for a christian to pray for another brother / sister who screwed up is a CRAZY idea to most. God is like smh...

where on this board has anyone said not to pray for another person?? please show me that and how u know what God is shaking his head at?? im sure he is shole shaking his head at these mindless sheep who continue to put faith in people like yo precious Eddie Long that you take for so much.

I said the expectation for one to pray for another is a crazy idea to most.

For instance, start a thread about ANY preacher or church leader who has fallen or sinned or really screwed up and 20 swacpage posters will respond to that thread.

Out of the 20 posters:

(8) will make jokes and laugh at him / her
(4) will say "see, all big church pastors are pimps"
(5) will say "all big church members are dumb sheep"
(3) will say, hey they messed up but they're human, let's pray for them, love, forgive, etc

The last group will be "risen against" for lack of better words :) Look up all the previous threads for your 'proof' - in fact, you led the comments most of the time.

You telling me that the posters said all that negative stuff on the SWAC page all day long, then prayed for the pastors that night? Did you?

Ok then, that's what I mean by God smh... Because most of His self proclaimed "christians" are falling into the first 3 groups above, not the last 1.

See what I mean?

Man is judgmental. Man only cares for himself. man is out for show and not glory. man can not save you. Man will turn his back on you. Man will pray with you and laugh at you behind your back. Man has faults. Man loves to show boat glory. Man points out every negative thing in man except his faults. man will never be your true friend. man never shows up on time or in the time of need. In other words man will always fail you, but God never will. You don't need man and his church, but you need God and his word. Yall keep putting up buildings and putting man on a pedestal. I'll keep glorifying God. Pimps up, you know what goes down, but the glory of the God is key. I'll pray for myself, and pastor better pray for his-self.

So if man is inherently flawed and subject to sin, why is there a need for pastors, considering those in that position are human?

You hit the nail on the head with that one Nev!!!!!

I've had many times where I "thought" that I needed to talk to my pastor or a minister on staff....but I then went into prayer about the situation and was reminded about what HIS (God's) Word said regarding my situion. My pastor often says that too many "church folk" want private sermons with the pastor without seeking God to answer the question in the same manner he would. God is proactive and everytime any of us has a problem/situation HE has already sent HIS word well ahead of time. It is us who don't adhere.

Now that's a good question? Why do we need em?

This one comes to mind ...
Eph 4: 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
