The SWAC is talking about fining Texas Sou., for missing the media day opening according to the Clarion Ledger.
Texas Sou said it was an airline mix-up.
Any official word on this?

Texas Southern absent from SWAC Media Day
BIRMINGHAM ? Tuesday's Southwestern Athletic Conference Media Day was supposed to be a showcase for the 10 football programs.
Well, better make that nine programs.
Texas Southern didn't show up for the event at the Sheraton Hotel and an obviously irritated Duer Sharp, the SWAC interim commissioner, said there would be a hefty price to pay if the TSU brass didn't have a good reason for skipping the event

LOL I know they didn't attend but people say the Media Day wasn't all that this year anyway, so therefore they shouldn't fine them.

We are a conference made of ten teams, when one school does not show up for a major event that showcases the conference it is a bad reflection on the conference as a whole. Texas Southern should be fined. It shows the kind of leadership that is destroying the SWAC!!!

LOL I hear ya. We are already down so the only way to go is up. People just don't care about other schools but their school. If they school win a championship then that's all that matter. You are right about the conference being made up of 10 schools but the way some people act it's only made up of 1 school and that is their school.

Jag.BR we all talk SMACK and SU has no room to talk because you guys can smack with the best of them, but at the end of the day we must stick together as a conference and I will not talk ill of any team in this coference outside of the house. With that said this is bad on so many levels. I don't care if only the Birmingham Media showed up we still have to showcase all the teams. I mean what are the coaches doing this week???? He could have flown in Sunday as requested and been there no excuses. The whole trip would have cost less than $3000 dollars max. The SWAC office should fine them a lot so this want happen again. I sure the school uses a travel agent for flights so this could have been fixed easily. Did he try to fly out the morning of?????

I wholeheartedly agree with you and support any financial penalty the commissioner assesses to my alma mater. Recommendations have been submitted to the University President, Board of Regents on behalf of all TSUNAA Chapter Presidents, Executive Officers and of course National Alumni President.

I agree with Sharpy also but people always try to make it seem like their school is so d@mn perfect and I'm talking perfect, they never made a d@mn mistake ever.

No schools and posters of those schools can say they have not boasted that their school was better than the other even JSU. So your point is mute. TSU did not show up and CLEB and their alumni are taking care of it ,so it will not happen again. If you know Houston, flights will be canceled or delayed. Especially if thunderstorms are in the area so plan to leave early. You take the SMACK stuff personal and you shouldn't. Just let it roll of your back. It's over and done lets all have a great season.
