FSU NOTEBOOK
McPherson moves on to Tennessee State
BY STEPHEN F. HOLDER
[email protected]

Former FSU quarterback Adrian McPherson has finalized his enrollment at Tennessee State only days after officials at the University of South Florida denied his wish to play there.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a source close to the player confirmed McPherson's decision to attend the historically black institution that plays Division I-AA football.

McPherson was dismissed from FSU last season after news of his legal problems surfaced.

He agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors this summer that resolved numerous charges, including grand theft and misdemeanor gambling, while avoiding a formal finding of guilt.

But McPherson faces another major hurdle before he can resume his career. He must be reinstated by the NCAA. The main sticking point in that effort is his alleged gambling involvement.

His June gambling trial resulted in a hung jury.

Now, the NCAA will make its own decision. NCAA officials are expected to meet with McPherson sometime next week, according to his attorney, Grady C. Irvin. But Irvin said he has received no indication of where the NCAA stands on the issue.

If this all works out for McPherson, TSU has got a good player. I wonder if he'll play basketball there as well. I assumed he's learned from his mistakes, and he'll always be under scrutiny so he shouldn't be too troublesome if he's reinstated.

The kid is a phenom. Saw him play some in HS.

However, if the NCAA reinstates him, I just may start my personal boycott of the organization.

I knew that USF wouldn' t take him. After the Samy Al-Arian (sp?) incident, USF wasn't going to touch anyone or anything highly controversial.

Dude,
You REALLY ought to stop just saying stuff for the sake of saying it.

Just last week, there was an article about a JSU transfer, who's now at his 4th school, Couldn't cut it at Southern Miss, couldn't cut it at SW LA, couldn't cut it at Pearl College. Now at jsu

so, you aint got to look no further than jsue to ask about those "outcasts"!

You shole is right MH. I get tired of this BS of throwing SU in the mix for transfers. We all get them. Most of them do okay. Some do not. Besides the LB at GSU that transferred from Nebraska and Michael Hayes, the transfers have been pretty much a moot point in the SWAC. And all of us have had busts whether they started immediately or not. For the most part none of the SWAC schools have become a Qb transfer farm like FAMU and TnState. I think its not the epidemic we try to make it. The white boys do it all the time. Hell even Larry Bird was a transfer. geez.

Mh, see; its like this. You all LIVE off transfers. We just accept them to work out with us to see what they're made of. You all take them in with WIDE OPEN arms. We just give them a place for lodging at the time and say that you have to work hard for a spot, cause scholarships are limited. You all write a HUGE ARTICLE in the papers about how they will save your team and bring fans to the stadium. We just give a brief back ground about them and move on.

Do you see the GREATER picture now? And that is why I said that "Maybe you need to ask SUcks and Alabama View". Comprende?

DAMN!

:lmao:

beansie,
stop trying to clean it up. You left the gate open AGAIN. (regardless if your fellow NSM cosigns you or not)

As far as "writing a HUGE article", not ONLY was there a big article announcing that this 4 time flunkie had transferred to jsue, but your leader was on the smackboard making "significant statements" about the guy.

Jackson State snares ex-Hattiesburg star Scott

By Mark Alexander

One by one, Jackson State's football players made their way to their respective dorm rooms Monday afternoon at Jones-Sampson Hall.

More than one did a double-take as they passed by Room 253.

"Who is that guy?" asked one player. "I don't know," responded another.

"That's the dude from Hattiesburg," another player said softly. "He's a linebacker, I think. They say he can play."
:lmao::lmao:

The imposing, 6-foot-2, 235-pound man unpacking his gear inside that room was indeed a linebacker from Hattiesburg. His name? Joseph Scott. The same Joseph Scott who signed with Southern Miss in 2000 after a stellar high school career at Hattiesburg High.

The former second-team All-State selection redshirted at Southern Miss as a freshman, played in the season opener against Oklahoma State then quit a few weeks later. From there, he wound up at Pearl River Community College where he played one season before moving on to Southwestern Louisiana.
:smh::smh:
He was there for less than a month, and Monday resurfaced at Jackson State much to the surprise of his new teammates.
:smh::smh:

"It's been a winding road," Scott said. "But I'm ready to play again.

"They were talking about playing me at defensive back at Southwestern Louisiana, and I didn't want to play defensive back," Scott continued. "I want to play linebacker. That's my natural position."

Scott's arrival couldn't come at a better time for JSU, which is looking for someone to fill the shoes of departed linebacker Elgin Andrews, the Tigers' leading tackler the past three seasons.

Scott recorded 154 tackles, six sacks and four fumble recoveries as a senior at Hattiesburg High. He had about half that number of tackles at Pearl River, which is where first-year JSU coach James Bell first saw Scott.
(In other words, he was a flunkie at the jr. college level.)
:lol::lol:
"I was still at Indiana at the time, and I came down here to scout a junior college game," Bell said. "I was looking at another player on the other team, a really good defesneive back who we ended up signing. But I remember seeing him. So I knew who he was. I just didn't know where he ended up.

"He approached us a while back, and then he took care of everything as far as getting into school here. I figured if he wanted to come here that bad, we'll take him.
Nobody else wanted that loser after he bombed out at every college he's been to.
And you jsue folks pretending like it's some big thing that he came to yall.
:lmao::lmao:
Heck, nobody wanted him!!!!

Again, beanise, make sure the gate is closed next time!!!

Key Statement.....

That's the difference between us and yall. Bell didn't proclaim him the saviour of our program (L.C.), and Bell hasn't listed him #1 on the depth chart (Petey). Bell never contacted this kid about coming to JSU (Johnny).

Is this the best you can do Horny?

You lames are hopeless. :smh:

MH, I dont know if you're disillusioned or just cant really comprehend, but do you know what this tells me?

"That's the dude from Hattiesburg," another player said softly. "He's a linebacker, I think. They say he can play."

This tells me that here is a guy that is basically new to the team that even his teammates dont know him. Which means that there wasnt no big ADVERTISEMENT of this guy who was coming to the team to take someone's starting spot unlike Williams and Jackson.

"He approached us a while back, and then he took care of everything as far as getting into school here. I figured if he wanted to come here that bad, we'll take him.

Again here is where Bell re-iterated that this guy CAME to us WILLING to do whatever HE had to do to get in school and on the team. Which means that Bell DID NOT have to alter/change grades to get him eligible, make illegal visits with him during off season, offer strippers to him to join the team, or violate any other NCAA RULES for him. This guy wanted to be part of a LEGACY so bad that HE was willing to take the procedures to get in. Now, I dont know about you, but that tells me that alot about this kid. Anytime the PLAYER/STUDENT/CHILD is willing to take the procedures instead of the HEAD COACH, then why not give this kid a chance?

Mh, once again you fail to see the GREATER PICTURE.

:smh:

MH, he is a linebacker. We don't need him.

Also, a good point is that you all take washed out transfers and start them before practice begins. That dude better hope he can play safety as well as LB 'cause he won't be breaking into that line-up unless he is really THA TRUTH!!

Say TP, whatever happened to that 2nd string RB that transferred to Jackson State and ended up on our 4th string? I dont remember his name or whatever happened to him.

:rolleyes:

Oh I see. So I guess K. Williams and the QB transfer yall got were superstars at their 1A schools.

Let me explain something to you. Your guys are wash-outs. They sat on the bench, realized that they would never get off the bench, and transferred to a bottom feeder AA program that would roll out the red carpet for them and annoint them "saviours."

Scott left USM under different circumstances. He played in his only game there (didn't sit on the bench) and left due to differences with the coaching staff.

He then transferred to a JUCO. What's wrong with that?

Following JUCO he went to SW Louisiana. They wanted him play another position. This happens all the time. He still wanted to play LB. Thus he contacted JSU about coming here.

Please pin point exactly where "wash-out" and "scrub" comes into play here....

I'll be waiting.

Please don't divert. This is the sports board.

Also, please show how K. Williams and your QB aren't "wash-outs" using stats, articles, etc.

This should be fun.

TP,
You need him at safety. You need him at LB. You need him on the DL.
Cause your defense was just that bad!!! From what I saw, I don't know which unit was worst, your line or your secondary.

But considering this "That's especially true now that the Tigers don't have the depth they expected along the defensive line because of a mix of graduation, academic casualties, dismissals and players quitting.", he'll be handed a position on your depleted line (which was already soft)

LMAO@Prodigy for that spill on the whirlwind tour this wash out has taken to land at his 4th school!!!!!
:lmao::lmao:

Mh, I try and I try, but you just seems to rebel. :shame:

Maybe one day, you'll get to see the GREATER picture. I guess until then continue doing what you do. Stripper parties, changing grades, placing "has beens" in starting positions, and everything else you all do for "wash-out" transfers.

Don't think that you goons can say any ole thing you wanna say and when you get called on it, that you can just arbitrarily throw out "this is the sports board" and ASSume that I'm supposed to answer some dumb question that you ask.

You give yourself WAY too much credit.
sheesh!!!

Thanks again for explaining the tour of that wash out!
