Magic City Classic halftime

The only game that should be played is the Bayou Classic, and I really wanna see how that would be if it was to ever be played at an outside stadium and at night!!!

That won't be done in the state of Louisiana. Only the LSU stadium could pull such a fete.....if yall want to give them a lot of rental fees.

You can't tailgate like that around the Superdome. That's the difference. Also the MCC will be 70yrs. old next year and celebrating the 70th Anniversary. The game is expected to draw even more fans. We will be back up around the 68,000-70,000 instead of the 61,800+this year. The tailgating is already expected to be even larger next year based on the number of request for spaces on last Saturday. It will be a special game and also more rooms will be available next year, because the Talladega 500 is suppose to change to another date next year. I just put my reservations in for next years game already.

We cannot compare halftimes back in the day to halftimes now. back in the day we have a full 10 minutes to do a show. Now I've always said (even when I was in the band at State) that the dance routines were too long. WE are a MARCHIND BAND. Not a dancing band. But 6 1/2 minutes is not enough time to really do a drill. Its so much going on at halftime that the home band is bound to go over time (ei. Wendy Williams, Miss ASU, and Miss AAMU). So can't compare to old days but both shows did suck.

Bama State, please do not schedule a play the week of MCC. They couldn't go outside but like three day last week.

FB status material.

:smh: Best part of the show was the DM entrance.  Honeybees..... ~sigh~ I'mma leave it alone. :smh: The 5th was decent....both bands did a good job, but nothing to really brag about.

Other than that, ain't shat like the Magic City Classic.....it really is a beautiful thang.

I was highly disappointed as well. However, I am tired of the HONEY THINGS!!!! Now me being a music major would love to see more field drills & even hear a march played on the field every now & then. ASU did the same thing the prior week against Savannah State. I guess that was practice for the classic!!!

AAMU did a drill and had the same amount of time as we did.

A&M went over time. I agree that we should have drilled more. Hell I love to drill. I think the dance routine should be about 45 seconds. I also hate gimmicks. But it is what it is.

bruh Bama State show was longer than AAMU's...both clips are on youtube.....Bama State is 9:32 and AAMUs show is 9:18 seconds.

The band had enough time to make the ASU design like other years, march down field with it, then backward march, then go straight into concert formation for the Stingettes or even play a song from concert formation, then do an up tempo dance routine an march on off the field. Even though they may have been allotted 61/2 mins., this is what they have done over the last few years. ASU will be the home team next year, so they should have enough time on the field to continue showing out on AAMU. Then again, like I said before, next year will be the 70th Anniversary and will probably have an even longer halftime show or longer presentations to be made by the City of B'ham.

Well maybe if both bands had more drive and a faster tempo than what I heard and saw on Saturday, the show would have been less than 9 minutes and we still could have done a drill. :|

Okay, I'mma leave it alone.

Well, ditto as everyone else......... both halftimes were BLAH........and i expected more from ASU and AAMU, but hey, some years the bands bring it for halftime, and then some years you don't.

Best part of ASU's show was the Drum Major entrance, the drill was non-existence, and the dance routine was horrible. Please retire the honey bees, but i guess ASU figures thats the only way to get house these days.

AAMU's show: the entrance was tight, it received house ....with the breakdown going into the slow death march.... everything from there was a snoozer.....the dance routine was garbage (no house)

So all in all no band gave the other band a L during Halftime....

Bama State was straight "Crankin in the stands"........ i even spoke to Mr. Oliver (band director) and i told him i would love to have another TSU vs ASU match up..... His response was bring it...anytime.....LMOL

Oh by the way, to the earlier comments about comparing the Magic City Classic to The Atlanta Football Classic....forget it.... Magic City Classic is WAY MORE LIVE than the Atlanta Football Classic...

Atlanta Football Classic is BOOSHIE.......
Magic City Classic is Ghetto Fabulous

well...from what Im hearing.....that wasn't the original show from Bama st. Due to the rain...and a play on Monday, wedns, and friday that prohibited the band from playing. They only had 1 1/2 days too practice....shoulda went atleast to an older drill atleast.... still not much of an excuse

Fred, I reeeeeeeally hate to take the "back in my day" route, but no excuse.......Prof Davis had our azzez out IN THE POURING RAIN the night before MCC in 1993 (the MCC when it was freezing cold). Not to mention that we use to make last minute changes all the time and still did da dayum thang. And don't get me started on learning TWO entirely different shows in like 3 weeks for the Circle City Classic my crab year in 1992. But hey, different generation, huh? :noidea: :smh:

But yeah, they could have done a previous drill....shid, we used to recycle drills all the time.
