Magic City Classic halftime

This year's Magic City Classic Halftime show was the worst I have ever witnessed. I give Bama State's band a F, and I'm not being biased. All I remember from Bama State is the drum major intro, the Stingettes routine, and then a long, drawn out dance routine from the band. Bama State's whole halftime show was a fail! I give A&M's band a C-. A&M wasn't much better, but at least they drilled and played selections without going straight into dance formation as Bama State did. I remember the days when both bands would give their best during the Magic City Classic halftime show. Both bands would be creative, innovative and entertaining. However, for the past few years, the Magic City Classic halftime has been lackluster.

On a side note, I think the Magic City Classic is a beautiful, historic rivalry. However, the parking dilemma around Legion Field, $30 and $35 tickets to the game, price hiking at the hotels in the city, and other mishaps make the game seem less appealing.

to address points...

parking dilema around Legion Field ... thats what the shuttle busses are for... there is even no way you can get a car close to Legion Field unless you know some hellafied backroads (through the projects).... Police had a 2 mile radius of Legion Field blocked off like Obama was coming through. I parked at the Sheraton... got to the game in 20 minutes after I parked... and after the game stayed in line about 5 minutes and was at my car in less than 10 minutes.

about tickets... get the tickets before gameday...btw if you think 30 dollars is alot, never go to a PWC game.

there will always be price hiking during anything big in any city... my advice go home or simply suck it up... you have a year to save for next year (and the prices arent THAT much more expensive).

about the bands....smh I posted on my facebook this had to be the Worst combined halftime shows I had ever seen in my life.

Bulldog Fever,
If you're giving ASU an F for the halftime, if you were truly "not being biased", then you would give A&M an F also. Or an F-. It was a complete snorefest.

carry on....

Im definitely not being bias.... but Bama State put on the worst Magic City Classic field show ever.... (and this coming from everybody from Bama State around me).... now yes AAMUs wasnt that much better... but yes it was better).... Bama State didnt do a drill at all...I dont think ive ever seen a show without a drill... it was like they skipped the drill to have a long dance routine which got no house. Then the whole old man coming on the field playing a hormonica... ( I later heard it was somebody famous) but Im sure 100% of the crowd didnt know that.

I shole won't get technical on the halftimes (cause I dont know enough to be technical)

I'm just saying, the best thing to say would be that both halftime shows were sorry. pot.....kettle.....no house.....both LOL

and I guess I'm old, because I liked Hole In The Wall. And the little drum major was good.

Might Hornet, I'm just giving MY opinion. But if it makes you happy, I give A&M a D+. Either way, A&M's halftime show was slightly better; however, both bands were overall crappy.

DaHill, I definitely hear your points, and believe me, I'll always support the Magic City Classic. But for instance, the Atlanta Football Classic has $10 tickets, in a nice domed stadium, and you can park near the stadium. The MCC just needs a little tweaking to create a more perfect game day atmosphere.

:lol::lol:
ok, both failing grades now.
:D

and I know its your opinion too, but if you think the atmosphere for the Atlanta Football Classic is better or even in the same league with the MCC, then ummmm......
:D

exactly!!!.... is he really comparing the ATL Classic to the Magic City Classic?

I'm born and raised from atlanta, and I can tell you the Atlanta classic doesn't even come close to the MCC...I love Atlanta more than any city in the world...But that one weekend out of the year in B Ham is probably some of the happiest times of my life...the city truely become MAGIC

I'm not stating that the Atlanta Football Classic is better or on the same level as the MCC. I'm talking about the actual venues and ticket prices.

Well, I definately feel you...But what you have to understand(and I'm sure you do, if you've experienced both games) is that, The Atlanta Classic is a Game in atlanta that weekend...The MCCF IS BHam that weekend. Meaning that there is more going on in atlanta that weekend and often alot of people aren't even studing that game... While the MCC, everybody (well at least alot of people) Are interested. So I guess they are trying to milk it for what it's worth

and btw, as far as parking, we had the best spot we've had in MANY years. Even parked in one of the official stadium parking lots. (I was able to get one of the last available spots, at about 8:30 Sat morning. )

FB status material.

I can't begin to put in words how much fun I had this past weekend. I was too tired to upload pics last night, so I'll do it this evening.

The only sour moment during the entire weekend was the halftime show. IMO (and I'm probably gonna catch some hell for posting this cause I know folks who lurk on here), this was the worse halftime performance from both ends.....especially MMH. :smh: I won't go into details on here- that's something I've already discussed with fellow old school MMH and we were all pretty much on the same page. :smh: Best part of the show was the DM entrance.  Honeybees..... ~sigh~ I'mma leave it alone. :smh: The 5th was decent....both bands did a good job, but nothing to really brag about.

Other than that, ain't shat like the Magic City Classic.....it really is a beautiful thang.

I have to agree with you. I remember as a child and in high school, the MCC halftime was THE THING TO SEE. The bands use to be extremely entertaining.

Both bands fell off. I remember when both ASU and AAMU had five drum majors. It seems the drills were much better back in the day.

The Georgia Dome in my opinion is a horrible college football venue.

Id tend to agree for HBCU football since it kinda deads the whole tailgating experience. BUT when they have the SEC Championship game, the Peach Bowl and that LSU vs VT game the dome was on SMASH.

Dome are only great for Colleges if you have a HUGE fan base....

If the Magic City can feel the Georgia Dome the way the fill legion it wouldn't be no complaints..

Tennessee State and FAMU fill it up nearly every year and the game atmosphere still sucks. Its just not the same compared to an outdoor stadium.

I don't care how big the game is...domed games suck. Period. If you have a city that stays nice, weather wise, and you have the stadium for it...no roof please.

I agree, Dome games in a sense takes away from the tailgating aspect of the event, Nothing like going to the stadium early and seeing outside BBQ smoke and shat, Domes just give that feel that you can get to the game about 20 minutes before kick-off, Dome games makes me wanna chill in the hotel all day until 40 minutes before the game starts, this juss me again,
