"set your own standards"
:ebrow: Its that time of year again, and hopefully both bands will put on a good show. So far this season I have not been to impressed with my own but I hope my family with finally bring "it". And AAMU, bring your best because in the past, the "Bulldogs" I'm used to made a very good battle. (ps...ya still are slaw though...lol :hat: ...snake that was for you...what up dogg). Anyway, I look foward to this event and want to see everybody in good health ready to get "oiled up" So with that being said.....let the trash talk BEGIN......

 Marching Hornets, I must say, you all held it down. I was quite satisfied with the performance. Sound in the stands was undescribable!!! Big snap, snap, to all Marching Hornets. This was one of the best reunions yet. Hopefully we go to the SWAC Champ. so we can do it one more time before the '05. I look foward to some good post after everyone sobers up....

I will be in it next year. I had to work at a hotel this year "and put up with it"
Let me just say this. If you take it upon yourself to rent an expensive arsed, full service hotel. Come correct or don't come at all. You should KNOW the restaurant is going to be expensive, you should KNOW who to tip. If you think you're going to have a problem with prices then GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Man I delt with more (IDIOTS) who wanted The Lord God Almighty to bring them a set of towels JUST because they paid more than 100 bucks per night for a room (AT A FULL SERVICE HOTEL).
They pulled up in Jags, BMW's Benzes, bragged about it all and could not tip the bellman, who lugged ALL THAT S**t to their room, two dollars.
I had two ladies who made a complaint to the GM of the Hotel I work at. Their complaint? The restaurant prices were too high. That's not it. They figured it was because this was a black event and that we did it because we supposedly KNEW the prices would scare them away. If that is so, can anybody explaing why we put a three night minimum stay on Racefans and NOT Classic fans? Can any of these FOOLS explain why we had the same prices for the race fans (who are white) as we did for the Classic fans?
Some advice for next year.....Act like your Black A** has got some home training. Don't go to an expensive hotel if you KNOW you can't afford it.
But that's okay. This is the last time I'm going to work on the MCG weekend. Next year, y'all holla at a brother by his RV. I'm fryin turkey and getting phoqued up.
Peace.

 In a few years, we just might pass the volume of the Bayou Classic, we already claimed a strong second!!!! :what: The question is: will B'ham be able to handle a crowd of that VOLUME???

I think so. Birmingham is bigger than most people think it is. Even if it isn't, the fact that the City will be bursting out the seams will make the experience that much more OFF THE CHAINS!!!!!! Get your cameras ready for next year baby-boyz and girls.

Isn't that funny? Alabama is home of the first Mardi Gras Celebration (Mobile) but New Orleans gets the pub. The Magic City Classic is WAY older than the Bayou Classic but SU and Grambling get the pub. Not that I have a problem with these facts. I have reservations for both New Orleans events. Wouldn't miss either for the world. I was just curious.

Mardi Gras actually ORIGINATED in Mobile.

Yeah. I know. Doesn't matter now though. The Magic City Classic has been upgraded. I did not see the stuff I saw this year-last year. It was UN-BELIEVABLE. Black folks are smart. They let them take Freaknic away from them in the ATL primarily because there was no valid reason for being there. This time there's a BIG TIME valid reason. Think they're going to cancel the Classic? I can just hear the city officials now..."Those Negroes think they're slick" :flippy:

That's true. I have lived in Alabama all my life (exept for when I lived in H-Town) and I have never been to the Turkey Day Classic. I guess the MGC is second oldest? I'm not sure. But the Bayou is just a baby in comparison. ALTHOUGH IT IS COMPLETELY OFF THE HINGES!!!!!!

:wavey: You are both right....my dad crabbed the band at Bama st in
1965. Turkeyday classic is the 1st and oldest classic among all HBCU's and Magic city classic runs a strong second as far as attendance is concerned. I'm not sure if it is second in age but I know that the Bayou has the largest crowd (cause of N. Orleans) and Magic city has the second largest crowd. But we are catching up and getting ready to be the biggest classic out there!!! Thats ok though, we will demand our props.............

65? DAYYYUMMMM!!! Let's see somebody talk trash about that band. Don't forget to get tape for next year while you're getting your cameras ready. I'm renting the RV and Frying Turkey baby-boy. MCG 2005 is as good as here. :flippy: :jump:

well what is the attendance there because the cotton bowl classic has at least 65,000 plus and the the florida classic (famu-bcc) draws well over 75,000(mostly women)....

It was SAID to be 65,300 but no way in hell it was that low because the whole stadium was filled (minus the upper level which is closed)... Legion Field holds 86,000 (upper level holds 8,000). The whole stadium was packed and the concourse (walkway) was filled. It had to b e at least 77,000 plus

Let's see:

Legion Field Seats roughly 70k. This year I hear the stadium was filled with God only knows how many people who never sat down.

Then you have those people who never even went into the stadium (the ones in the RV's)

And those who simply came down for the after parties. (The Freaknic Chics)

It might be safe to say 85K in attendance more or less. Maybe more from what I saw.

 You have a good point, I forgot about that classic. I wasn't aware of the type of crowd they had.. They may run a good third or fourth but The stadium at Legion holds at least 75k and it was completely filled, even the walkways. Not to mention the tail gaters. And like TCONN said, you still have the people who came in town that didn't even go to the game. Do you know of any other classics that have a large crowd? If so, holla at us but I'm almost sure the Bayou and Magic city are the biggest. Who knows, depending on the attendance at the Bayou, we might have got them this year!!!

ps......does anyone know who is the closet to winning the west for the swac championship? I think we may have a good chance for the east.
