I also don't get what is wrong with not being attracted to different skin hue's. I got joked on a lot about being dark skinned when I was growing up. I have heard a few sisters say they don't like dark skinned dudes, it really didn't bother me. I love being dark skinned now.
The problem is that there was nothing wrong with your skin color and you should have loved yourself all along.
Them not being able to recognize that and appreciate the differences in people is a character flaw on their part. They need to grow and intellectually mature.
Make sense?
Hell I won't date a fat girl. I'm just not attractive to fat women. Does that mean some thing is wrong with me. I love and have a lot of fat female friends and family. Mofos can cook though. Just don't want too see any of them naked.
I can't do big women either. For me, it's a practical matter. I just can't handle all of that woman. I can't.
But, I would be wrong if I couldn't appreciate that there were some attractive and SEXY larger women. For me to deny that would be lying to myself ... which ... is a problem.
The truth is there is beauty in all shapes and forms.
To say that we don't understand how Lupita is beautiful because she is too dark is ignorant. Or white women aren't appealing because they have flat asses ... ignorant. On and on. It's just not true. At some point we have to evolve past that and learn to appreciate beauty in all it's forms.
I must admin, Lupita is really not that bad looking. Actually she looks pretty damn good.

I guess it is a good thing that our forefathers did not think like some of you guys, because if they did, most of us would not be here (if you get my drift).
We never have these issues when folks say they don't like light-skinned chicks (and it has been said on TSPN). Only when it's directed toward dark skinned.
I guess...

As long as Black people have fought against racism and discrimination, we - of all people - should know that skin color in no way determines the character or quality of a person. A certain skin color doesn't mean a person is more honest, hardworking, kind, compassionate, sexually compatible, or even more attractive. Skin color alone in no way determines who will or will not be a suitable mate for us. Yet, within the Black community, we have people perpetuating the same white supremacist ideas that have oppressed us for so long. Even using the same white supremacist terms such as "preference".
We should know better.
However, some of us have been thoroughly trained.
:shame:
Not at all.
I swear y'all So dramatic when discussing dark-skinned...:lmao:

Honestly, it is only when it comes to women from my personal perspective. You can't say you don't like dark skinned brothers and it is cool. You say you don't like dark skinned sistaz and hell breaks loose.
I'm just saying that we should be more enlightened. If any group of people should recognize, respect and value people beyond their skin color, it should be us.
Why am I not surprised that you missed the connection between how we see ourselves and how we see others, and so many of the societal issues that we face? The link between our self-concept and the empowerment of a people? Or that you've chosen to trivialize any discussion other than "she too dark" or "he too light" as "drama"?
