LSU vs. Southern On Hold For Now

lmao@ jrock...but try to be objective whether we agree with it or not. LSU is simply playing Big Dog vs Lil Dog. I understand SU not wanting to make the change...but I understand LSU saying "What's in it for me?"

Boss, W/we sick?

 :emlaugh:

SU moved a home football game to Jackson,Mississippi don't be surprised if the baseball game is moved to LSU's campus lol!

Well, this move wouldn't be that bad since we would still be in BR, but Lee Hines would give the SU fans and students a better opportunity to see their team play.

Is SU banned from LSU's campus? lol The students and fans of SU still can see their team if the game is played at LSU

Cador not going to go for that crap.

If the AD gets some money for moving this game he will do so, what can Cador do? Cador can't do nadda!

The AD doesnt bother Cador with scheduling.

Just because if didn't happen in the past don't mean it won't happen now! If some money if offered, you know in these hard times AD's are going to go the money route! You thought SU wasn't going to move the game to Mississippi either, see what happened!

I don't know, 2 years ago LSU was giving the impression that they didn't want us near their campus. That was when all the hype about the rebel flags at LSU and them trying to keep SU students from attending LSU frat parties strained the relationship between the two schools.

Only the true SU baseball fans will go watch the game at LSU. At SU you will have all SU baseball fans, students, and community spectators at the game. Very few LSU fans are going to want to come to our campus to watch the game. It would be packed full of SU fans. The school would be able to hype the game and make it into a real big community event.

Trust me. If Cador doesnt approve the move its not going to happen. Cador raises more money than the AD  .

How much is the typical payout for a mid-week baseball game against LSU. I doubt it is anything that will make or break our budget.

Are the community spectators the ones on the overpass?

I really do not think this is about SU. This is about the amount of road games. It's about money (they have a nice season ticket base). It's also the fact Maineri does not want his kids missing class. This is the SEC where you leave town on Thursday for a Friday series because of travel. It's not exactly a bus league (though some trips are for some). If you are out of town midweek a lot, it is rough. Having less than 30 home games would not be acceptable for LSU. Not acceptable for many in this region. Heck, UNO is home first three weekends OOC - first four total if you include conference opener.

Payouts for baseball are extremely low. I was shocked when I learned some of the figures. At least for a crosstown game, you may be able to pocket some, if LSU is willing to pay SU as they would out of town teams (doubtful).

That's not even remotely true

LSU's kids aren't going to be missing any classes taking a 20 minute bus ride to Southern's campus for the game. If they were being asked to travel to Oklahoma for a mid-week game, I could see their concern. LSU had 37 home games last season, I'm sure living up to their end of the deal and only having 36 home games this season will be okay for their coffers...

Let me restate that, what I meant was that there will be fewer LSU fans in attendance, thus creating a pro-Southern crowd as opposed to the all-for-LSU crowd that would be at Alex Box. Unless the LSU fans beat us to the stadium, SU would have the home field advantage. Wouldn't this be SU's first win against LSU at Lee Hines? Also, I can't remember, but didn't SU and LSU play in New Orleans one time?

LSU's only gripe is money. Their only legitimate reason for not traveling to SU is the money they would lose out on by not playing at Alex Box. It is not a big deal if they don't play. Maybe Southern could schedule Tulane again.

LSU, SU not scheduled to play game in 2010

There will be plenty of college baseball played in Baton Rouge in 2010, but the city’s two Division I programs won’t share the diamond together next season unless they meet in the NCAA tournament.

The LSU and Southern baseball teams are not scheduled to play each other next spring. It will be the first time since 1983 the two haven’t been scheduled to play each other — a disappointment for the coaches of both programs.

That's Crazy... smh
Ah'well, Life Goes On

Its nothing to cry over... The teams/coaches should just work to meet each other in the NCAA Tourney, the Game that MATTERS! (That would solve that)

According to Cador, the game was/is a "Budget Maker"
He also stated that there has to be a game at Lee-Hines before the series resume at the Box.

“This game is so important to us because it is a budget maker,â€￾ Cador said. “Some of our older fans were looking so forward to LSU. That’s really the only time they will come to a game.â€￾

Does this mean we all get to look forward to a thread complaining that Southern got sent crosstown to LSU again in the NCAAs?!?! Nice!

Do we know if Tulane is on the schedule for Southern in '10? Guess not, no mention in the article. ULL visits Lee-Hines and UNO does a 2-for-1 (one trip to BR, two games in NO) next year.

Why not just drop the Northwestern or Centenary game?

LSU wants to hit all corners of the state according to the article...

At this point, baseball schedules are pretty set for the spring (and fall with the new manner of how things are done by some schools).
